Think about it,... would a Chinese or Japanese citizen, (deeply local, not westernised),.. get an English word tattooed on themselves? No, highly unlikely,.... so why would you get a Chinese or Japanese symbol? Either way,. if you DO get one done,.. get one that's at least original,.. to have one that thousands of other people get, is, in my opinion, pointless,... but that's ONLY my opinion. get what you like, but my tattoos are all original, no one else has them. :o)

How much a tattoo will hurt, depends totally on your pain threshold. If you can handle pain very well it probably won't hurt at all or much, like some people I know. If being pricked by a needle in your finger hurts, then prepare for a bit of pain. The back area is especially prone to pain due to the fact that your spinal cord is right there. However I've found that the higher up your back you go the more painful it is. The pain also depends on your body mass index, if you're thick it cushions the pain a bit, if you're rather slim then there isn't much to cushion. Hope that answers your question

I don't think you should ask others to make choices about your life that are going to be permanent. I have 3 tattoos.. and a fourth one that goes from my left pectoral up around my should and down covering my arm and down to my elbow. All tattoos that are on my body are from my own choice. You make the choice.. not anyone else.. You are the one to live with it.. Just my suggestion...

I would suggest that you think long and hard and know what it is YOU want as a permanent tattoo on your body
Remember its there for the rest of your life.
you can get people's opinions of what they think of a certain tattoo but only you can know in your heart which one belongs on you

Get something that will make people stop and do a double take.....Find something that YOU are passionate about and put it on your skin.

You shouldn't be getting tattooed if you can't pick it.
Wait until one of them really pops out to you and you want that one specifically.
