I am eighteen and thus not skilled labour. I am from United Kingdom and want to work in Manhattan, New York City earning money to fund my stay at the New York Film Academy to study directing. Is it even possible for me to work in NYC at low level jobs such as retail checkout, waiter as an eighteen year old? As it seems I have nothing to offer America? If it is possible and I hope so much it is can Yahoo guys give me a pathway to get a visa please? I want to live in New York permanently

Apply for a student visa for the Film Academy. International students are allowed limited work to finance their education, under certain circumstances.

I suggest you call your local U.S. consulate and make an appointment with a visa officer. They can tell you about your options.

Since you want to just find any work, you are not going to be allowed to get a work visa. And the student visa would allow to work only in the place you study ( if you find a job there) otherwise you won't be allowed to work.
NYC is very expensive. Have you considered getting a scholarship? how about a sponsor, a sponsor can be somebody from your home country.

I do not think is possible to just come, work in any place, and save money to study. Sorry.

The odds are stacked against you. There's really no visa type that will allow you to work your way through school here in the United States. The work visas that are available are for professional, college educated workers like nurses, physical therapists, teachers and computer professionals.
