I am totally opposed to the death penalty. This is my personal opinion. Also, statistics show that it is not a viable deterrent to crime.

I am against the death penalty because there are times when people on death row are found to be innocent. But....
If I could pass a law that would allow anyone to be put to death it would be child molesters/abusers. There is nothing worse. Something needs to be done to end this.

whilst it fairly is the executioner it fairly is not capital homicide. this is a criminal punishment, carried out by potential of a contractor or worker of the state. no longer absolutely everyone who kills yet somebody else is concern to the death penalty. There are lesser stages which carry lesser outcomes, yet executioners are in simple terms doing a job, as is the case with a police officer who kills a suspect in the line of accountability.

Some Christians erroneously argue against the death penalty in the name of compassion/mercy. Likewise, one of the above responders claimed that the Bible contradicted itself (quoting the "eye for an eye" & the "thou shalt not kill" verses). Neither of those positions/statements are correct. Their confusion is due to a misunderstanding of personal vs governmental responsibility.
As individuals, we are not to murder. We are to "turn the other cheek" to those who would malign us. We are to forgive those who sin against us. We should be a reflection of God's grace and mercy.
The Government/courts, however, are not intended to be a reflection of God's mercy. Government should be a reflection of God's justice. As the Apostle Paul wrote "they do not bear the sword in vain". Harsh crimes deserve harsh punishment. That's not about revenge, its about justice...

DEATH PENALTY? LOL nothing like a controversial subject.
Here is where I stand. Someone kills someone and says YES, I DID IT, here is where the body is. FRY 'EM.
The "Bible" contradicts itself. IT says 'eye for an eye" and then says"Thou shalt not kill"
