I believe in God, I have felt His energy in my life and he has answered my prayers, once in such a way that there was no mistaking that it was Him answering my question/prayer and He wanted it to be known that it was Him. That was my first real prayer eons ago.

I believe in doing my best to present myself to God as one approved. I stopped going to church and reading my Bible because I got caught up in worldly things; am not perfect and often give in to the flesh, having fun, material things, etc though I am starting to see more and more that this is not the way. I believe in God and want to serve him but I am not sure about all these worldly things. I realize that the way of the drunkard, permisuous, selfish people are not the way but for some reason I am not sure I can live a normal life by serving God.

I see so many other people doing all these negative things and I know they are not the way. I think I can give them up but no sex before marriage? Shed some light on this...

Good question! You are on the right path. Keep doing the right thing, its the "way" God wants us to live.

Reading and sharing the Bible with a group of friends is the best thing. Its difficult for anyone these days to find the right Pastor or the right church. There are so many and they keep changing or dividing every year. They are more about there "own way" to better there image or how to get a larger membership or trying to merge with pagan customs, etc. than about God's way. The Bible says this is what will happen in the last days.

Anyhow, below is a website that will help direct your path to a church that is "compatible" to your belief. You might have to change them to God's Way.

Hope this help God bless.

Well, most people that reply will say that their belief is the one for you. Personally, I think that you should do a little research into various religions (easy online) and see which one seems to match your belief system the most. I share a lot of what you had to say. I have a problem with "organized religion", I understand the support and strength that can come from 'belonging' to a church, but I still have a problem with some of the 'church going' practise. I am really annoyed by those that lead a wild life all week and then get dressed up and go to church on Sunday simply for the appearance.
Just one person's opinion.
Shine on.

No person is perfect. The only person who lived on this earth who was sinless was Jesus. We are all sinners. I keep on falling back to old sinful habits, which i have been trying to stop for years. I even feel that I dont deserve to be forgiven, but i know He forgives me because He loves me. Trying to change takes time, will and puting your strength in God. I think that once we are able to give up worldly desires, our lives are better than normal lives. They are based on so much more than anything the world could offer.

The Roman Catholic church founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ in the year 33 is the only ark of salvation. You will not be saved from the fires of hell in any other religion but the Catholic faith. Why only the Roman Catholic church you may ask and why not any other denomination? Because it is the original church founded by God. The following compelling sermon by Fr.Arnold Damen may help you:

There are no gods, but let's assume for the sake of argument that there was one - You could never know what it is he wants of you (if anything) because the only sources we have that purport to tell us what he wants are unarguably human beings, and we all know that humans are masters of invention, deception and self-delusion. Since you cannot believe anything that anyone tells you in this regard, you can only rely on your own sense of right and wrong, which is what everyone does anyway, theist and atheist alike.

Wow, the array of different responses you've gotten to this question is just an example of all the different influences surrounding us as we live in this world today, isn't it?

I just wanted to share some honest insight from my life and maybe it'll help you in some way. I'm a Christian - a follower of Christ. I don't have all the answers, but I used to think I had to understand it all in order to live my life for Jesus. I'm soon going to be 24 years old and am engaged to a man who is also a Christian. We both have pretty scarred histories involving sex before marriage, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, divorce, etc. What's awesome though is that a few years ago (before we every met) we both came to places in our lives where we knew the choices we had been making were hurtful to us and hurtful to others.

I came to understand that all those "rules and regulations" I was reading in the bible (no sex, no drunkenness, no stealing, love one another, be respectful to your parents, etc.) were actually words of wisdom and guidance from a heavenly father who loved me and only wanted the best for me. God was saying, through sending his son Jesus "I made you for a reason and you have a purpose for being on this earth. If you live like this, you'll get hurt, hurt others and not be able to fullfil the purpose and plans I have for you."

Some examples:
When you get drunk or take drugs you lose control of your body & mind. Why is this not good for you? Because God has more in store for you...he has dreams and plans and adventures planned for your life, but because you choose to live your life getting drunk or getting high, you aren't able to see those plans or hear His voice directing you towards the purpose he has for your life.

When you get involved in sexual relationships before marriage, you are giving intimate parts of yourself away to women (or men) who won't be your lasting partner...and when and if you end up with a person you want to spend the rest of your life with, there will be so many hurts and wounds to recover from for you and for your partner. Not to mention the getting pregnant part...God's timing is for people to have children within marriage...anyone can see the benefit in this.

I can't tell you how excited I am about my fiance and I getting married in a few months, and knowing that this time around (thanks be to God for his amazing grace and mercy on our lives for giving us each second chances) we have started new. Our relationship is one based on true love and commitment for one another and a commitment to serve our Creator, Lord and Savior with our lives.

Jesus has cleansed us from our pasts and we've both been able to start fresh...our wedding night will be exciting and fun for us, as well as intimate and special because we've waited knowing that that is God's best advice for us as a couple. It won't be just another night of sex with the twist of it being in a hotel for a change, which is what it would be if we had started sleeping together based on our emotions and fleshly desires.

So, I hope maybe you can hear my heart on all this. Be encouraged that it's never too late to start over with Jesus. Find a bible believing church or bible study or life group to get involved in...with people your own age and people you can gain wisdom from. Ask questions and start to ask God about these things and see what answers you get. Just remember that in order to have a conversation with someone, you have to take the time to listen to them as well as speak...it works the same with our heavenly father.

All the best,
-emay

These Scriptures might help;

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
