For the wine to run out at a wedding would have been a terrible embarrassment for the host.
So Jesus saved the poor guy from life long ridicule.

God knows how some Christians see drinking as bad! Especially as they often give out wine in churches.

Getting drunk on wine? I'm sure they did!

Why not? It was a wedding.

Drinking wine is fine. Getting drunk, though, is not -- at least not on a regular basis.

Remember that this miracle was performed during a special occasion -- a wedding.

Which means that "letting loose" on such a special occasion is okay -- but this should not be taken as license to "let loose" all the time.

Not getting drunk, necessarily.

Back in the old days, it was safer to drink wine and beer because the fermentation process would heat up the mixture kill off the germs in the water. They didn't know WHY it was safer, only that it was. They didn't know about boiling their water back then.
