Our high school is offering advance courses for the advance classes for our junior year(next year). I don't think this would have any official record that a collage would be able to see. So this would just be for the pure benefit of it.
The Courses are:
Public Speaking - Writing and preforming different types of speeches.
Advanced Biology - Introduction to botany, zoology, leading to comparative anatomy.
Business Math - Basic accounting principles and applications of math in business.
Art and Design - Elements of design used in architecture, landscaping etc.
Cultural Anthropology/World Religions - Study of culture and religions as factors of moder and historical events.
Research and Documentation - How to annotate research Data, make footnotes, bibliographies etc.
I think the the last one would be the most beneficial as it can be applied in all other subjects. Some life experience would be much appreciated. We would still have a normal curriculum in addition to this.

It really depends on what you are going to study in your future, but I think the Public Speaking course is good because if you do go on to college you will probably be doing a lot a presentations to the class and it is also beneficial in the work environment. And in life in general its important to be able to communicate effectively and this course should help with that. Its the one I would pick if I could. The Research course will be good but only if you really struggle in this area.

The first depends on the teacher. Ask someone who's taken the class with the teacher assigned to teach it.
If it's the standard text book course with the practical taught by the standard 'trial by ordeal' method, it doesn't really help a person gain much confidence in public speaking.
If the teacher concentrates more on teaching practical techniques that help a speaker gain some confidence, it will be a very valuable course that will help you throughout your worklife, including job interviews that help you get a job in the first place.
