It really depends on the distance! If it is far enough to turn over then yes it will, and stay nutter side down. Just as when you throw a knife it starts off the opposite to the way it eventually hits the target.
In this case the cliifs are white instead of toasted brown as all we get is rain, therefor the same law may not apply so if it was a sycamore nut it may whirlybird it's way to safety!
