got a tooth pulled about 2 summers ago and will ocasiionally get pain on that side of my mouth where the tooth was pulled. I was eating pretzels on Tuesday night and wacked into starting my pain. I have a semi formal in 2 days. I cant think of any ways to get rid of the pain for long. I keep taking Ibrofrofen ever couple of hours and am icing my mouth. I cant do this at school. My gum is all swollen where the tooth was. I had it pulled do to an abcess. How can I get rid of it. Thanks in advance

Try oil of cloves. Available over the counter at the drug store.

And, yes, see the dentist as soon as possible!

It sound like it's infected. You want to get to your dentist immediately. You need to start a regimen of antibiotics, which will get rid of not only the swelling but the pain as well. You may want to talk to your family (if you are still under their insurance) about seeing a different dentist. Don't put it off any longer. Infection can turn into something really much worse than just a swollen gum and toothache.

Toothaches are painful but can be prevented
by take suitable precautions. Avoid eating
food which will result in the formation of acid
in the mouth, brush teeth regularly with a fluoride

I would recommend contacting your dentist about this issue, especially since the gum is swollen.
