The Army is accepting people with GEDs. Whether the specific MOS will allow the GED in is another question. For that information, you will need to talk to the recruiter, and even then, he/she probably won't have it. That's a situation that arises at MEPS and is handled by the guidance counselors there. However, provided you qualify in every other aspect, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to go MP.

Do yourself the favor, tho, and don't lock in on one specific MOS. There are a lot of other jobs available in the Army, and they are just as fun. You can always use a reenlistment option to change your MOS later. I did my 20 years as an MP, and if I could do it over I would have enlisted in Armor or Field Artillery first, then changed over later.

As far as your going to college, on base are a variety of colleges and universities that you will able to attend. Central Texas College is the biggest two year college affiliated with the Army, and they accept students with GEDs.

Good luck

Army will want the GED. Very difficult if not impossible to join the Air Force however, without a regular high school diploma. And if you have had college credits why don't you have the GED yet?? Take the test. If you've passed college courses certainly you can pass the GED.

Yes. My husband joined with a GED and he actually has a lot more options for college than he would have if he weren't in the Army. The Army has an online program called eArmyU - you can get a degree online through hundreds of different colleges. As long as the school you pick will accept a GED, there is no problem.

The US Army accepts a limited number of GEDs. The Army doesn't decide whether or not you get to go to college -- it's up to the college you apply to.

Yes, you can go to college, as long as you're admitted by the school. You also have to receive permission from your commander before you can enroll for the first time in college classes, if you wish to receive the Army's 100% tuition assistance.

The Army has excellent college programs on-post as well as via the internet. Everything you need to know about educational programs available to soldiers can be found here: https://www.earmyu.com.

Good luck making a decision!

If I remember correctly, your ASVAB score will determine what MOS you are able to apply for. If you score high enough to be a 31B and based on the number of openings for that MOS, you should be able to get. And as said previously, it will be up to the college to accept you.
