It's interesting, this question was just asked in anthropology and no one has answered 6,000 years, whereas if it gets asked in R&S half to 3/4s would say that. What does this tell us?

Modern geologists consider the age of the Earth to be around 4.567 billion years (4.567×109 years). This age represents a compromise between the interpretations of oldest-known terrestrial minerals – small crystals of zircon from the Jack Hills of Western Australia – and astronomers' and planetologists' determinations of the age of the solar system based in part on radiometric age dating of meteorite material and lunar samples.

Wow It is absolutely old! it's a shame that in only 2007 years we are destroying it.

Earth might be millions of years old.

Its not written in the Holy Bible that the earth is only 6000 years old as some says and some expect.

The Bible says,
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The rest of creation is about a re-creation for presant world.

THe Holy Bible says one day of God is Like 1000 years.

So even if some says 6000 years. It comes 6000 X 365 X 1000

that is 2190000 X 1000 years = 2190000000 years.

so the actual could be many more times.

DONT EXPECT A TRUE CHRISTIAN WOULD SAY EARTH IS ONLY 6000 YEARS OLD.

wikipedia gave the best information

The Earth was formed around 4.57 billion years ago and its natural satellite, the Moon, was orbiting it shortly thereafter, around 4.53 billion years ago. The outer surface is divided into several tectonic plates that gradually migrate across the surface over geologic time spans. The interior of the planet remains active, with a thick layer of convecting yet solid mantle and an iron core that generates a magnetic field.

that anthropologists are dumb? (sorry, not sure what kind of answer your fishing for...)

Even if people want to believe that God created the heavens and the earth, you have to be pretty simple minded to think that he did so in 6 days just 6,000 years ago and that all the evidence to the contrary has been planted by the Devil to test their faith. LOL.

Then again, if Farrah Faucet says that the world is 6,000 years old, it must be true.

That tells us that many Christians refuse to accept the fact that scientists found out the real age of the earth through many studies and research and not because one, 2000-year old book says so.

well i would think man is 7,130 years .but before god made man there was no time so from day 1 to day 5 could be millions or billions of years our time but only days in gods time, lets say 1 day is millions of years our time and since we are living in day 7 i would guess that the earth is 7 million years old with out knowing how long gods time is and then being able to compare it to our time we have no way of knowing. the time we go by today is mans time and man makes mistakes so what ever time frame a human comes up with has a 50% chance of being wrong or right so that still leves us unsure, i hate to correct the answer above me but from my studies it just shows man is 7130 years not the earth its self

we are from adam to now would be 7130 years just add it up for your self.

It tells us educated people know the correct age, people who deny all science (mostly from backward countries like turkey and the united states) don't.

Oh, and about 4.57 billion years.

Well anyone who says they are a christian should know that the earth is not as old as some scientist say. It has only been 2007 years since Jesus was performing miracles.
