2 is probably a little young, unless they are very close to 3. Kids generally don't have the motor skills or the awareness to be toilet trained until they are about 3 years old.
Also, try not to train them in colder months, as this will make them less likely to tell you when they need to go - partly because they don't want to be cold, and partly because it is actually harder to tell if you need to urinate in cold weather.
Other than that, it's really just a case of telling them what to do over and over again, and never losing patience. Also, it's best to keep them in nappies at night until they are well and truly trained, as bed-wetting accidents can be traumatic enough to cause problems with toilet training at other times.
Most kids will learn very quickly when they are ready. You will save a lot of effort in the end if you just wait a few months until he/she is ready to be trained, rather than pushing them before they are ready.

Boys: Will not typically train at this age!
Girls: Like rewards and lots of them!
Most toddlers potty train anywhere from 18 to 36 months. Here are some signs to let you know when your toddler is ready to potty train:
Dry diapers for at least 2 hours during the day and a dry diaper during and after naps
Regular bowel movements
Uncomfortable in dirty diapers
Can follow directions
Asking to use the potty
Interest in sitting on or using the potty. See potty training chairs.
Asking to wear regular underwear

You could try a little Patience. They often do it when they are ready. I didn't believe this theory but it is true. The more you put pressure on them the more upset they get and you get no where. But leave them alone and within a week they are all of a sudden potty trained.
You could set up a potty chart - just pint off your childs fave character of internet, and stick it up in the toilet. everytime your child sits on the toilet you can get them to add a sticker to the picture and also give them a sticker too. they will feel so proud to be wearing one.
when there are ten stickers dotted about the picture you can do something exciting as a reward. I had a bag of inexpensive toys, that my son picked one out. he loved it and was potty trained in no time.
You can also try putting a few cheerios in the bottom of the toilet/potty and children love weeing on them.
or add Blue dye to the water, and then your child can make green. theyare fanscinated by this.
Otherwise put some of their fave books in the toilet, that they can read when sat on the toilet.
all of these ideas work. so try them out.
Boys take longer to train than girls apparently.
Goodluck.

If it is a boy- put a ping pong ball in the loo and tell to pee on it, it makes it fun and he will most likely not make a mess. Good luck

stop putting diapers on him/her.it's messy as hell but let them sh*t on themselves a few times.he/she will get tired of it prettty quick and want to use the toilet.it is the best way to break them if you want to bad enough.
