My mom smokes and I keep telling her to stop because it can kill our parrots. They are all in the living room and one is in the master bedroom. She lights cigarettes in the kitchen and walks through the house smoking. I keep telling her to stop, that she is killing them, what are some side effects of parrots living in this kind of environment? Enlarged heart and compressed lungs is one of them, right?

she is killing them, slowly which is quite cruel. I'm sure she doesn't intentionally want to hurt them but parrots have very small, sensitive lungs and cant tolerate second hand smoke as long as we can(not that we should have to) talk to her, tell her she is hurting the whole household because even though you are worried about your pets, the smoke is hurting her as much as its hurting you.

Your Mom is killing the parrots. She's selfish if she smokes around you and your birds. Tell her to butt out or find your parrots suitable homes that won't be hazardous to their health. You might want to find a new home too if she wont' quit to keep you healthy. Thats' disgusting.
I feel bad for you.

The effects of second hand smoking is almost universal to all living things. Smaller and more sensitive animals like birds will show the negative effects faster.. BUT imagine what it's doing to the rest of you. Your mother should just quit smoking for good. For her benefit as well as yours.. The birds are not going to do as well as they should be..

You have absolutely no right to tell your mom not to smoke in her own house. You are being very disrespectful to her.
