White Plains isn't far; the Metro North Train goes from Grand Central Station to White Plains - depending on the train and the hour, the ride can be as little as 31 minutes or as long as 50 minutes. Tickets can be bought from the conductor on the train, they are a little bit less, if you get the ticket at the station, and even less if you purchase the ticket on line. Okay, the answers above tell you all you need to know. I'm planning to move to White Plains myself. Much cheaper than living in the city and the trail system is great. My apartment is going to be just a few blocks from the station.

You can take a train there from Grand Central Terminal in 45 Min
