Ornithologically: If the birds are like parrots (who have a great grip) dont fall from the tree, thus it makes 100 birds (including 3 dead ones)

You are all wrong. There is one bird left in the tree. The 96 others flew away once the first one got shot. But a trio of really stupid birds stayed behind to watch what happened. Two got shot, leaving the third one wondering what new game this was..
