It won't effect healing too much, but it can cause irritation, swelling, pain and an increased risk for hypertrophic scarring, which is easy to clear up but still annoying as hell.

While what you do in your sleep probably can't be controlled, try to figure out if there is a way you can sleep so you don't roll onto your ear. I found sleeping sitting slightly upright helped me. If you still can't help it, at least be sure to do a salt soak to soothe the area and reduce redness and some swelling in the area. Good luck.

Bad news from me I had this done about 10 years ago and it still hurts like hell when I touch or roll onto it in bed. I just think it never heals in that area. Had nose done belly button this is the only problem I have had. Still not took it out for long enough to heal though. Sometimes give it a rest.

baby sham is the nearest correct answer, i have 13 piercings and had the top of my ear done about 10 years ago too, it takes about a year-18months for it to stop hurting on a daily basis, but mine is still tender too if i lie on it for any time, as you pointed out, its a cartilage piercing, its different to flesh, rolling onto it wont affect the healing time, the decision you have to make is do you want it badly enough to put up with it, i have, its not too bad, even in my sleep, if i feel it sore i just automatically turn over, persevere with it, its worth it

You might keep catching the newly healed skin so I would say it might take a bit longer. I used savlon A LOT when i had mine done, took a good few months to heal cos i had it done on my sleeping side too. Try putting a plaster over it when you go to bed or a cotton wool pad just to cushion it?

It may do if it makes it sore.

I had my ear pierced there and it got sore and i had to have antibiotics,
I later got my other ear pierced up there instead and it was fine.

Just keep it clean - what earring do you have in it? when my friend got her ears pierced one earring got pushed into her ear almost under her skin if that makes sense. maybe get safety backs?

Maybe put a plaster on it at night? Keep it clean and it should be ok. If it goes funny take it out and if in doubt go to your doctor.

You can always get it re pierced somewhere else. Or your other ear.

It shouldn't as long as you keep it clean. However it all depends on how badly u catch it. If you catch it and it rips the skin slightly, it may be a few more days healing.

i shouldnt think so just make sure you keep it clean i have always found bathing it in salt water or buy some solution from clares accesories is pretty good and remember to turn your earing several times especially when bathing it should help it to heal quicker hope this helps

just be careful you don't put too much pressure on it as the cartilage can pop through the hole, honestly not nice!! lol put a plaster over it at night when you go to bed to avoid any excess movement or dirt or hair fibres getting into it from your pillow.
