its easier said than done. I don't go out of the house because I have agoraphobia. I know I should seek therapy, but then I would have to go out of the house. My HEART BLEEDS FOR YOU.

If I was facially disfigured, I would have no other choice than to keep on living. I would thank my good Lord and God that I had an enjoyable childhood, a wonderful husband, and a beautiful daughter. I'm not saying that I wouldn't let it bother me, but at the same time I would know that I have so many blessings to be thankful for.

If you are facially disfigured because of an accident, maybe from drunk driving maybe you can channel your energy to something more productive like fighting for victims rights. If it is the cause of a disease, maybe you can volunteer your time and share your story and personal testimony with people who are in the same predicament you are.

Many people are disfigured in one way or another, whether it be physically or mentally. No one is perfect. It is important to remember that life can turn on a dime. One can be on the top of the world one day and be in the pits of hell the next day and vice versa. People who love you don't care how you look sweetie. The true beauty lies within. Good luck and I pray that you find inner peace.

I am betting a lot of people tell you to go out and not care what anyone thinks, but the truth is, we always care what people think. No one likes to be stared at, or talked about in hushed voices. It hurts. There's nothing you can do about that. The question is, are you willing to live the rest of your life out of public view to avoid being stared at by strangers? Doesn't matter what any of us who do not have to deal with it think. We can't possibly know how we'd react if it happened to us. I would like to say that yes, I'd go out, and have a major FU attitude towards anyone who looked weird at me... but maybe I'd opt for the easier out, and just hide in my house, away from embarassing stares.

Not much of an answer I know. But, I do know that life is too short to waste it away in my crappy house hiding from the world. Ef 'em if they don't like how I look. I'm betting that sooner or later, I'd suck it up and head back out into the world. I'm betting that when you're ready, you will too.

I think you'd have to get over it somehow else what kind of life would you lead? Of couse, it'd be really difficult - maybe find some local support or something? People in the same situation as you?

Most important though - don't care too much what other people think. They're all idiots! So best not listen to this then!!

listen, people are rubbish, i know it must be really scary to have this sort of a problem because of knowing how shallow people are. However in reality although we see pictures of beautiful people all around us, we know that in reality it means nothing. It's easier said than done, but you need to believe in yourself, be strong, have people around you who believe in you as well, if you have a good positive aura around you, you will be surprised how beautiful the world will find you. Be strong, i will be thinking of you and i hope that my thoughts will give you strength x x

Sure. I mean, people who use disfigured spelling and grammar go out and post in public forums all the time, so why not?

One's sense of self is altered by others perceptions of us whether we care to admit it or not, knowing this and how it can make you feel may help you go out side.Personally I am not overly social myself and find happiness from within not without.Good luck on this one.
