Firstly, I doubt anyone here that says they are dissapointed with it has HD with a really nice TV. A great TV with a great HD signal compared to regular broadcasts is LITERALLY like comparing VHS to DVD. The difference is like night and day. My TV is the only thing I have owned that after 3 years, can still blow me away with how good the HD signal looks, I still have not gotten used to it. And for the last guy, 1080i is ok, but 1080p is where its at. Given a choice most people will take 720p over 1080i. It generally looks as good, if not better than 1080i, because it is progressive and not interlaced. 1080p is where it's at, DO NOT pay more for a TV just to get 1080i. In conclusion, the stores feeds are HD signals usually split between a few dozen TVs degrading the quality so you cannot judge HD by what you see at Best Buy. The difference is incredible and completely worth it.
Edit: Thats WHY you only found one 1080i set- if you are going to spend the money for a 1080, it must be a 1080p.

WHAT.....you want to see the MOLECULES roll around a persons face???
I put my HD Locals and my SD Locals side by side in my PIP.....and THE HD Really stands out.
Of course, I have a 1080i NATIVE RESOLUTION, not 768 or 720...
DID YOU KNOW that MOST TVs SOLD before Christmas are ACTUALLY 720 Native???
I actually dropped a load when I went to Best Buy's Website and I ONLY FOUND 1 -- YES 1 1080i TV, and several 1080P TVs (for Thousands)!!
The rest (especially Plasma/LCD/DLP) had only 768 lines of resolution and, Well that sucks!!
I almost got suckered into thinking all TVs were 1080....
So, what do you presently have? LCD , DLP or Plasma??
My TV is a Hitachi 51F59.....
1080 Lines Vertical and
"Limited only by Bandwidth" Horizontal Resolutions....
Can't see molecules, but it looks good with 1080....
Next choice.....Toshiba's HDA2 Player.....

I went to a friends house to watch HD football (he has a HD Sky box) and the picture was impressive, crystal clear. I think the trouble is that we get accustomed to the resolution so quickly that we become a bit blaise about the whole thing and wonder what we spent all that money on! What you should have done was kept your old TV next to the new one and then compared pictures, you'd soon tell the difference!

For me its not all its cracked up to be yet. Sure the picture is better but the quality and choice of programming is distinctly lacking. I will shortly be purchasing an HD-DVD player for my XBOX360 which promises even greater picture and sound quality than current broadcasts. In summary then, fantastic potential but as yet unrealised I think, stick with it though as future developments will come thick and fast and with a reduced price tag too I'm sure!!

I'm glad i dont i have it, its the biggest ripoff, you have to buy the box then rent it back.its only for sky and cable. My brother had it sent it back because of the poor choice of channels.
