when I learned to drive, I did not have car insurance as I did not have a car. the other person has to have insurance. I borrowed the other persons car to learn to drive.

Not sure what state your in but with regards to a driving test I'm sure most states are the same.

It does not matter who's auto you take the test in so long as that auto is insured by the registered owner and you have proof of that available, and you have the owners permission to drive it (LOL of course). That's the way it works in Texas. Texas also requires that the auto you take the test in have all of it's registration, inspection up to date and that the auto does not violate any States safety laws. Other than that your good to go. OH! Since your not yet licensed? Have someone who is take you to the driving test.

No...you can drive anybody's car in a drivers test, but it must be insured by the owner, and should be in working order (they WILL check the turn signals/headlights before they will give you the test)
