God is love (1 John 4:8) Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Love is a Person. Faith is imparted to us by the grace of God.

Love is the feeling that we all have, even if we don't have faith. Friendship is love. Romantic feelings and desire to be with a mate is love. The feeling we have when we bond with other human beings is love.
On the other hand, faith is the belief that there is something there without having to actually need proof of its existence. You may not love someone, or even like them, but you may have the faith that they will be consistent in their acts in one way or another. So faith is certainty, while love is that special emotion that has caused everything from wars to new nations to salvation.

I have faith that the local trams will be on time... but I don't love the person who makes sure they're on time.
I love my husband and family but don't have faith that they can ensure the trams are on time.
:-)
I love how I got a thumbs down on my answer! I assume it's because my answer didn't reflect religion. However, the question did not specify whether the question was based on religion. It asked what the difference is between love and faith... and my answer is an example of just that. I'm 110% Christian, and I'm disheartened by the ignorance in which is reflected by those who clearly can't see sarcasm through a legit and valid answer.

Love and faith are both the greatest energies that move the world Love has a frequency of vibration highest than faith. But as we vibrate on their frequency we glow we produce light that cover us and the people next to us. We can not describe them; we don’t really know how to explain them. But both could change the world.

Nobody in history has yet managed to define love adequately so I won't try, nobody knows what love is but it makes itself so obvious when you find it..
Faith is trust in things unseen, in other words it's make-believe, or believing in something without evidence or proof just because you really want to... or have been told by others you should believe something ...which makes it a sort of copycat faith or hearsay faith, I think faith is highly overrated, no comparison with love.

Faith is inward and invisible, love can be outward and visible. When prompted by faith, love is faith made visible.
