I would try a saline nasal rinse (not a spray.) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean).
The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot

You can do this a often as you like with no side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. If you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis.

I have had chronic problems for a few years now and it's aggravating. If possible, I'd recommend an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist) exam to make sure you don't have allergies or polyps. Then...at the suggestion of the ENT if needed, try allergy testing. In the meantime, your regular doc or internist can advise on OTC or Rx meds for symptoms. They say the Ocean Nasal Spray is good for the nose and won't cause rebound stuffiness.

In my view, it won't get better by itself. I think I'm allergic to dust and the cat but my insurance is crummy, so I won't go in for testing. I survive on Claritin-D but then I can't sleep so I'm looking at alternatives now. Also, try the allergenic pillow covers. Do you wake up in the a.m. with a stuffy nose and headaches - then I bet it's dust mites. Try a good furnace filter too and vacuum regularly and remove carpets if possible.

Don't pick your nose! It's a filthy, unattractive habit, and look at what it is causing. STOP NOW!

Nah, just kidding, you should probably ask a doctor or pharmacist for a prescription drug to whack it on the head or for some advice on how to prevent it. Hope I made you smile or laugh and helped you with your problem lol!

I was like you, same thing until...
My doctor gave me a nose spray antihistamine (Gee wish I could remember the name of it.). Told me to vacuum all areas and dust frequently. (areas meaning all of house, car, couch's and bed. (To keep away dust mites.).
Now here the dumb part- Doctor said, "Put 1/4 salt into a paper bag and snort. (I know what your thinking, I too thought this same thing. THE GUYS NUTS!) But really it works.

Good luck
