Grist your supposition may be true or not according to what poll one chooses to believe, but your WORLDWIDE mathematics are suspect. Oh! and Grist, congratulations on your need to claim superiority. You win. My blessings.....

I would also add that self-desrciption as a fundemental Evangelical Christian is not the final arbiter of what the truth is, as asked in a given poll.

I would also state that what passes for a Christian in America e.g. Begging, or railing about the wages of sin being hellfire, are NOT what Christaniity as The Christ intended to be taught is. If non-christians are upset by this; imagine how so many of we Christians feel now that the Word and the Deity(If one can seperate them) have been hi-jacked by greedy wolves in sheeps clothing.

I know what you mean; I try to keep in mind that a loud minority is not necessarily the majority. I'm weary (and wary too) of ANY loud group, actually.

I have no problem at all with Christians. Christians, who follow the teachings of Christ, are tolerant, accepting loving people who are a pleasure to know. It is the self-styled Christians who are not Christian at all but Old Testament Fundmentalists that I have a problem with. Here lies the bigotry, hatred, intolerance, xenophobia and just plain nastiness for which many American so-called Christians are famous. You need look no further than Yahoo!Answers for excellent examples of this.

If these so-called Christians actually followed the teachings of Christ, most of the hatred would disappear. These people, unfortunately, give real Christians a bad name.

There are alot more fundies then 10 %, more like 20% however you are right, there are alot of good, smart christian people however when you are told something enough times you start to believe it, so I hope I don't offend you christians who actually have an open mind, I just haven't met enough of people like you

ACID ZEBRA, you're tired of it too? Damn thought i was the only one who constantly has religion pushed onto me by others! The sad part is that they think that they are doing us all favors!

Well I am pretty tired of religious folk who claim superiority but have so little capability of thought left that every answer to every question has to be biblically based. God gave man a mind we ought to attempt to use it at times.
As for the 2nd part of your statement we are not that concerned about the 90% of you as we are about where that 10% could easily lead you all.

Reliable reports show 25% of Americans are Christian fundamentalists. If 90% of Christians were not, that means we would have more Christians than the actual population.

So I for one claim superiority in simple math calculation over at least one of you.

It's like Islam, the extremists are the only ones that matter.

In the case of Islam, the extremists are the ones flying planes into buildings; in America, it's the fundies who are trying to hijack our science classrooms and generally destroy separation of church and state.

I think it's only natural that they get the focus.

I don,t claim superiority over anyone, it,s just that you only see the most vocal minority on either side, that goes for athiest side too.

An atheist does not claim to be superior.

We just have the freedom to look beyond one book!

I don't claim superiority but I'm not aware of your claim. What I now for a fact is that majority of christians are fundamentalists!

I know that most aren't fundamentalists, evangelicals or both at the same time.
