Hi, I am looking into buying a used car. Im not sure which car to get but ive been looking at a few. I am planning to spend around $5,000-$6,000 on it. I want a RELIABLE car that would last me at least 5 good years. The type of car I am looking for is a Sedan or possibly a Coupe. I am not into performance or racing, I just want a comfortable ride. I am looking for a stylish car with preferably Leather interior. I am not planning to fix up the car, just put nice 20'' rims, sound system, and tinted windows. Anyone have any kinds of car in mind? Please leave your feed back.

i know you want reliability, but I have to say either 1992-1994 Jaguar xj6 or Mercedes 300E 1991-1994. I've owned both cars multiple times. The early model xj6s are VERY unreliable, but most of the bugs and problems were worked out by the early 90s, so no problems. There are even conversion kits to swap in less expensive GM mechanicals into the Jag to save money.

The 300E is one of the best handling sedans ive had the pleasure to drive. Very good weight distribution and handling. beats a run-of-the-mill 3-series anyday.

I recommend both cars equally. Both have rear-wheel drive, luxury interiors, Straight-6 engines, and plenty of torque and WHP for their size. and big monoblock wheels look beefy on either one.

If you want to do 20 inch rims, it will have to be a big car for it to look decent. Even then, 18s would look better in most cases.

For 5-6000, I'd say look for a 1998 (or 96 or 97 I guess) Lincoln Mark VIII. For a few grand less you could get a Ford Thunderbird or Mercury Cougar from the same era. Also Grand Marquis, Town Car or Crown Vic. You could afford a Mustang, for that matter. Just because you have power doesn't mean you need to use it. V8 only. The V6s were crap.

Ford Escort ZX2 is another good one.

Mercury Capri, Mazda Miata if you want a reliable convertible. (The tops on the Capri are usually in rough shape. The Miata was more durable) Many Miatas have leather seats and steering wheels. They're harsher than most cars, but not painfully so.

Any mid-size Japanese car will suit your needs, and you might find a decent early-mid 90s BMW.

But I'll say it again: Mark VIII

Vauxhall Monaro VXR. Reason: The car is very well priced for what you get. It boasts a 6 Litre V8 Corvette engine, and that power this monster to 60mph in 5.3 seconds, and to a top speed of 185mph. The car is entirely rear wheel driven, and this results in a car being so utterly and superbly fun to drive, it's something to experience! It produces 398 bhp at 6000 revs, and 391 lb ft at 4400 revs. Price? The same as a BMW 535 Diesel. PS, a 5.7 Liter version is available for 15k less.

If RELIABLE is the most important, then buy a used Honda. Civics are cheaper, great mileage. Accords are a little more, but nicer, more comfortable, and a better chance of getting leather.

If you change the oil regularly (and the timing belt at the scheduled interval), then a Honda can easily last 200,000 miles.
