God created humans but those humans seem to have an ingrained, inherent desire to know about their maker. If you look at archeology about half of the artifacts they find have to do with religion(they find burials grounds that are religious in nature, they find temple areas, all cultures and all the different empires had some kind of a religion....). Also, man cannot do away with religion. Communism tried to eliminate christianity and all religion. Lenin said that religion was the opiate of the people. He outlawed it and persecuted anyone who practiced religion. Yet Communism could not conquer religion. It eventually conquered communism. Man just seems to have an innate desire to know about God. He seems to have been created that way. Therefore, God must have left some kind of revelation about Himself. Otherwise, God created man with a desire to know about his maker but never revealed Himself. Is God some kind of a divine practical joker? I believe there is a true revelation of God or, if you will, a true Holy Book. But wherever there is the true, there will also always be the counterfeit. That is what we see on planet earth, namely, a lot of Holy Books. They can't all be true because they all contradict each other(the law of non-contradiction says that 2 things that contradict each other can't both be true) and they all say they are coming from God. But I think it's very plausible to think that one of them is a real revelation from God. Otherwise you have this divine cosmic practical joker who creates men with a desire that can never be fulfilled. Just because men wrote the Holy books it doesn't follow that the thoughts came only from men and no higher. God could have easily put the thought in mens mind and inspired them to write in a certain way. Wherever you have Holy books you are going to have a religion coming out of that Holy book. If God could have inspired the writing of a Holy book and a religion came out of that Holy book then I would say you are wrong to say that God created humans but not religion. God could have created humans and progressively gave his revelation of Himself and how He wanted humans to live which resulted in a Holy book which resulted in a religion. Wherever you have the true you will have the counterfeit. If you had a true religion you would eventually have counterfeit religions. If you wanted to find the true religion, you would have to examine the Holy books of the large religions and see which one seems to have the signature of God in it. I would think Gods signature would be in the form of miracles and fulfilled prophecy and supernatural things that would prove to everyone that this book had to come from a higher source than man. You asked how I understand it. That's how I understand it.

I see it as, what came first, the chicken or the egg? I am not a religious person, but I also don'd think we just came about because of some big bang nor do I believe in evolution. I do believe in some higher power. It's always troubling to think, if God created us, who created God? How can something just exist without being created? It's a wonder that science nor a religious person can explain. I believe when I see and if some sort of miraculous thing occurs or God reveals themself, I just may believe religion was right all along.
I do believe religion is a downfall of mankind and the bible is a book of stories hoping to instill moral values in people. It could have been a desperate attempt during a barbaric period to instill fear in people to become civilized.

Yes your right, God didn't create religion Cain did (See Genesis 4 and Hebrews 11:4) God created us for a very special purose and that is for us to be in close fellowship with Him. Which was once damaged because of sin and now it is restored by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christianity is not religion it's based on love (For God is love 1 John 4:8) and a relationship with Him.

You are right about that statement. God did not have to create religion because a relationship with Him is what He wants for us.
There is a difference between religion & a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Religion is more of a term meaning philosophy. It is a means for people to falsely identify with what they feel is right and good.
A relationship with Jesus Christ means allowing Jesus to be your Guide, your friend, and your goal.
Think of it this way---- Did Buddha, or any other "god" ever die for your sins, and rise from the dead on the third day, and later ascend into Heaven after over 500 people witnessed that He TRULY had risen from the dead as Scripture spoke???

That goes along the same lines of "Worhip the CreatoR; and not the createD".......
"Religion" is restricting...but LIFE IN CHRIST is not. Religion is about rules, regulations and devout practices....CHRISTIANITY IS NOT.
Jesus gave some pretty simple commands.
1)Have NO other gods before me...(meaning ;NO other gods at all, that is.
2)Love the Lord your GOD with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
3) Love your enemies, do good to and for those who use you and betray you ( bc' it is in this, that we display the forgiveness and love of GOD).
Within the scriptures, we then also have the TEN COMMANDMENTS and The Great Comission. Likewise, after His Resurrection...we also are admonished with a bunch of simple life principles.
A non-believer can read "the BOOK" and not understand it; all they will see is what they want to; and that primarily being to discredit it's validity, and the infallible nature of how it was constructed. They can become "scholars" regarding scripture, yet truly not understand a word they have read.
Only after a person truly has given their life over to JESUS in repentance, and have believed sincerely that Jesus is the Son of GOD, can one even begin to know the Word of GOD. The bible speaks of this in terms of "Spiritual Discernment." The unbeliever will see confusion and will constantly be looking for inaccuracies and contradictions. The Lord says that HE has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the "wise; to abase them. Bc' in their pride, they think they know what GOD is all about. They make assumptions or follow crowds of people who likewise do the same things. The scriptures cannot be known; and hence:GOD CANNOT BE KNOWN unless one is born again. Then, of course- the "religion" will no more be religious and restraining~ but spiritually discerned and freedom in Christ; freedom to not be slaves to the sin that seek to trip us up and cause a chasm or divide between us and our communication with GOD once again.

I read your biography in your profile. It seems that you realized that the religion you grew up with was not the right one. But, you still believe that God exists. That's good, you are on the right path. Don't give up on your search for a religion though. Maybe you will find the right one someday. I would recommend you to take a look into Islam. You can ask me any questions if you like.
