First of all, in one of the many Chinese dialects, which I don't currently recall which one, Mormon means "Gateway to Hell", and this is an exact statement.
Although the Mormons use the Bible, they are told that they must believe in the words of the "Book of Mormon" as another testament of Jesus Christ. BUT THIS IS A LIE!!!!! The Bible clearly states in the New Testament that if anyone else ever tries to tell you that they have another testament of Jesus Christ, they are a LIAR.
Whether most Mormons know it or not, there is a document in the Mormon Archives that states that Lucifer is the "god" of mormonism.
They also believe that they can pray their loved ones, who have died and gone to Hell, out of Hell and INTO Heaven. THAT IS MESSED UP, folks!!!! Everyone has the chance to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, before they die.
Anyone who does not choose Jesus Christ before they die, in essence, has chosen to go to Hell. Please understand that until people have the ability to comprehend the reality of accepting Jesus, they will not be judged about this, if they die before they accept Jesus Christ.
Back to the Mormons...... The founder of Mormonism was Joseph Smith, who was a Freemason. Freemasons have Lucifer as their "god". Joseph Smith used the secret handshakes and passwords of Freemasonry for the upper levels of Mormonsim; these handshakes and passwords are still used in BOTH the Freemasons and Mormonism.
Mormons are taught that Jehovah God came "from the planet Colob" .
They also say that Lucifer is the brother of Jesus Christ, but that is impossible because Jesus was with God from the very beginning, and Jehovah and Jesus created all things, including the angels, which Lucifer used to be an angel before he and 1/3 of the angels tried to overthrow God from His throne. As a result, Lucifer and those rebellious angels were cast out of Heaven.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL PREY TO THE MORMON'S STORIES---- It is a road that leads to destruction........

If you don't hate them, then why did you refer to them as "Morons" in the subject line?

In any case, I suspect they believe for the same reasons that other people believe in what they do: because they were raised under that religion, or because they haven't been exposed to anything else, or becaues they don't want to know anything else, or because they took a look at everything else and honestly felt this made the most sense, or they were talked into it, etc.

Parents. The parents of Muslim teach their kids JIHAD. Parents are teaching kids their beliefs all over this world. I was taught racism against black people and had to learn that it was foolishness on my own. Hatred of others is moronic. Hatred is moronic, let it go. We are all creations of the Almighty, so show some respect. If we can't respect the created then at least respect the creator.

It is unclear whether in your question you meant mormons or morons -- not that there seems to be much difference. They believe that the Book of Mormon, authored by one Joseph Smith, is the word of god, originally written by ancients and left buried in a hillside in upstate New York for Smith to find.. What it is is a bunch of pretentious nonsense.

People believe what makes them feel safe and in a group. They dont always need a reason as long as they feel like they belong.

because they were raised into it. But yeah a new bible comes out years later telling us new stuff when Jesus already made his mark and told us how to be christian. Its like Oh I forgot some things so i will send another guy down instead of me coming down again myself and telling others. The bible says no more bibles except this one.
