I wonder if it is a Red State - Blue State thing. In the San Francisco Bay Area where I live, nobody seems to care that there are a lot of illegals here and the hostility toward them in other places is hard for us to understand. - As far as I can tell, they contribute much more to the economy than they take away. I don't think they come here because they want to get on welfare - They come here to work. Many of them work for low pay, and then sacrifice their own comfort so that they can send money back to their families in their home country. I would like hear more from the people who hate illegals. Have any of you been hurt by them personally? - Have they prevented you from getting a job, or forced you to take lower pay than you would get otherwise? Have any of you been the victim of a crime committed by an illegal immigrant? Is it possible that you have been duped by a government that lowers taxes for the rich and then blames the government's lack of money on illegals?

A illegal immigrant that is employed in the United States will most definitely do the job that a U.S. citizen won't because our economy enjoys paying under the salary bracket to those who desperately needs jobs, ie; The job at hand may not be done right but, it's in the time frame and to the company that hired them, who cares if they cut corners as long as the job got done? this is a big issue today in our economy. Not only are corners cut but the average illegal immigrant will work $5.00 up to $10.00 less an hour just have to a job. Point being, If I work at $20.00 per hr. This Immigrant will do it for $10.00 and the boss would skim the top. If he had 10 immigrants working for him at that rate , the boss would be getting $100.00 per hour $800.00 per day for 5 days plus his paycheck.at his rate per hour. So, that's pretty huge money for a boss. But, in the end, he would be cutting his own throat and taking a risk at hiring a illegal immigrant. But there is a lot of them out there that do it. Remember the hurricanes in Florida where all these construction crews came down? Well, this is what they were doing.

When someone from another country wants to emmigrate to the United States there are several steps to be taken. One of the most important steps is a medical exam. Most third world countries have diseases that the US has either eradicated or controlled. A person legally entering the country will be medically screened and appropriate action will be taken. If you look at medical statistics, our southern border states have higher rates of TB than most third world countries. Why? Illegal immigrants spreading their diseases.

Another step is a criminal background check. It only stands to reason we don't want a known murdering pedophile to freely come to the US and prey on our children. And yes, I know we already have these in our counry but we don't need anymore!

Yes, the immigrants will do jobs Americans will not do. I would never work for $1.50 per hour with no benefits. You will never pay $15.00 for a head of lettuce. We have too many employers out there looking at the bottom line and trying to make the most money as possible. An employer who employs an American has to pay minimum wage, L&I insurance, Taxes etc. The worker pays into social security and taxes. The immigrant does not pay taxes or SSI. HOWEVER, he CAN get SSI and FREE medical. Do you ever wonder why insurance is so dam expensive? Or why our SS Administration is going to go broke? An honest employer cannot compete with the crooked employers.

Lastly, Illegal Immigration IS A CRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those violating the law need to be punished. In this case, deportation is the only answer.

Any amnesty would cheapen our counrty and be a slap in the face of all who have emmigrated legally, my grandfather included!

The short answer is most of them don't make enough money to pay for the education and other services their children use, out of taxes. The cost of those services is taken from our own children's education funds, and health care funds for our sick. Our schools are failing and hospital emergency rooms are closing in places where illegal immigrants concentrate. Since education IS upwards mobility, substandard education is jeapardizing our own children's futures, as program after program is cut.

There are reasons every country in the world limits how many poor can immigrate.

The more services like universal education that a country subsidizes for its own poor, the more poor want to come, and the more expensive it is for the host country.

Then there is the double whammy of our own working class having its own wages reduces by mass influx of unskilled immigrants, driving our own workers to poverty. Then they too will need services, the difference being that they are the ones the services were funded for. The middle class pays for this while suffering reduced services itself like education for its own children. That is a huge sore spot. Education is our OWN children's future, and it is being ruined.

Employers profit from depressed wages. However, a glance at the recent Fed reports about how little of this is being shared with anyone under the top 2% shows that the most of the people paying for the services and using them are subsidizing below poverty level wages for employers.

The employers send their kids to private school.

I am a citizen of the US and I hold a Master's degree. Yet when I was unemployed, I had no one throwing government aid at me. I had to put my health on hold and yet hundreds of illegals in my area (no exaggeration) apply and GET medicaid and other benefits that my parents and generations before them worked so hard to put money into. Yet I, and thousands like me, get squat.

You want to come to the US? Do it legally and be here legitimately, pay your taxes, and learn the language. I don't care if you speak your native language at home or when you are out together, just don't expect me and everyone else to cater to you. If you want to live in the US so bad, learn the damn language.

Also - Bob the Builder is right on. Recently in my area a van with 8 illegals collided with a train on a train crossing. Four died, the other four were critically wounded. They didn't, apparently, understand the signs. You shouldn't be driving if you can't understand basic road signs!! And who is paying for their medical treatment? You guessed it, all of us legitimate citizens! No wonder so many people hate illegals.

Because they are illegal, and since it is so easy for them to come here that just shows how dangerously pourous our borders are and that is a very bad thing. Also they don't learn our language. They are a drain on the the health care, jail system, court system, an prison system. That does not include the ones who are criminals who dont get caught. Also they drive without insurance causing wrecks which cause our rates to increase. There are too many reasons to list.

they are not jobs americans will not do, they are jobs that americans would rather not do and they dont have to because they get paid more for sitting on their behinds and collecting welfare. if they actually monitored welfare and got people off of it they would have no choice but to go out and work at fast food places and pick veggitables. if you cut off the free money supply they will have to get real jobs. the wages for those jobs may go up a little but the amount of money we save in taxes not having to pay for all those social services they use would more than compensate the extra fifty cents you pay at mcdonalds, hopefully not more than once or twice a week

I don't think Americans hate illegals, but many see how many illegals take advantage of our society and how they enjoy many of the rights and privileges that we do unfairly, and they get angry. We would prefer that if someone immigrates here, they should do so legally. I think any American would agree with that. Yes, they do a lot of the jobs most Americans won't, but they need to cross our border in dignity, and not through a tunnel and covered in mud.

"...will not do for less than a decent living wage." Tell that to all of the contractors, and American workers who can't work or are laid off from their jobs because illegals are cheaper.

2007-02-22 03:32:33 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

By no means do all Americans hate illegals. The ones that do, however, are frustrated that benefits for legal citizens--like county emergency rooms, public school, etc.--are experiencing significant strain because of their use by people who are not paying the taxes that keep them going. Many also believe that illegals are taking American jobs, though I've heard intriguing points on both sides of that debate. And some--though by no means all, and none on purpose--see the illegals as a "safe" target for their hostilities over other uncertainties in life, right now.
