I was wondering how to keep your tatoo looking good after the whole healing process is over?? is there an ointment you need to apply often to keep it looking fresh??

After the healing process is completed, you don't really need to be using any special products on it. It's basically part of your skin and will pretty much look after itself. It is important to keep your tattoo out of the sun as far as possible, because excessive sunlight can damage it - so, if you're going to be out in the sun, either cover it up or use sunblock.

Over a period of years, your tattoo may become very slightly less defined - if I look at my ten-year-old tattoos, for example, the lines are slightly less crisp than in my two-month old tattoo. This is normal, and not a problem - it's basically your tattoo growing old gracefully!

Hope this helps.

My first tattoo is 19 years old now and it is faded I could use a retouch on it. I don't go in the sun with the tattoo showing to keep it protected but after years it fades anyway. I have very light skin so i stay out of the sun, but it did fade and i do need a re-touch. Just keep out of the sun the best you can and if you go in the sun try to keep a lite coat of sun block on the tattoo. Use a good ointment on the tattoo and you should be able to keep it for quite a few years looking good, i used an antibiotic ointment on mine.

your tattoo will eventually fade a little to look just like ink on your skin, and this is normal. There really isn't anything you can put on it to bring the colors out more. And after the healing process (about 2 weeks for the first scabbing, and another week or so for the snakeskin like layer), there isn't anything you need to put on it. During the healing process, don't pick or scratch it, and don't worry about putting ointment on it. Just wash it gently with soapy water and pat dry. If you put anything on it, it could moisten the scabs too soon and they could come off before time. In this case, the color could come out with it.

Just remember that the Sun and Pools are the enemy of Tattoos. They bleach some colors if not protected. Wear a sunscreen on you Tat in the Sun and a grease based ointment if you know your swimming in clorinated pools.

just apply lotion to it after you shower, and if your tattoo is going to be exposed to any sunlight make sure you put sunblock on it not sun screen sunblock and that will keep it looking nice the sunblock keeps the sun from fading the tattoo other then that there really isn't any other maintenance you need to do

Don't let it get exposed to too much sunlight. The sun is the #1 thing that causes tattoos to change color. Still, over the years your tattoo will fade and change no matter what you do. Lotion won't stop that, I'm afraid.

The best thing you can do now? Don't touch it, don't touch it, don't touch it!

you should keep it moisturized and keep it out of the sun! but also how you care for it during the healing process matters too so be sure to follow the directions exactly. good luck!

The less exposure to sunlight the better it will look. Also, use lotion on it becuase if a layer of dry skin appears on top of it, it will look ashy and faded.
