I am now using subtitle workshop to make out the subtitle file for a avi video.
Finally I get a .sub/.srt subtitle file.

Now I meet the problem of how do I combine the subtitle file into video file so that I can watch that avi video together with the subtitle I made.

I had heard of method like name the subtitle file with the same file name as my avi video file. And the video would go automatically play with the subtitle file.
But it doesn't work for me ??
Did I miss any steps for it to work ?

Or do I need to download another programme to combine this 2 things together ...
Additional info is that I know there is 2 types of subtitle, one is external and the other one is internal (which is permanently place inside video, cannot change the words)
The one I hope to do is the internal ones ...

~THANKS FOR HELPING IN ADVANCE ~

Download DirectVobSub, it is a small file and a short installation. Kepp the .avi file and the .srt file in the same folder and make sure the names are the same. Run the .avi file and the subtitles will appear. Hope this helps.

For external one, Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player can play subtitles file. If you want to add permanent subtitle it's more complicated, here's a guide from Video Help: http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=153058

VLC: http://videolan.org/vlc
Media Player Classic: http://www.download.com/Media-Player-Classic/3000-2139_4-10518777.html
