Out of all the countries, I'd say China would have the best shot. They have the 3rd largest nuclear arsenal and over 2 million soldiers. If they used their nuclear weapons as a first wave and do significant enough damage to our navy and air force so they could at least make it to shore. But, if they did use nuclear weapons, we'd probably retaliate back with them and do just as much damage to them. My money would still be against them though.

There is no single country that could do this. All U.S. bases overseas except Guatanamo Bay Cuba are Sovreign territory of the country they are in. So to attack them would be to attack the Nation the base is in. Also to take the U.S. mainland would be quite tricky as Canada and to some degree Mexico would have mutual interest in defending North America so that would be a significant battle. You would also have to Consider NATO because if the U.S. were attacked first many if not all NATO countries would join the fight, making an extremely large military force for a single nation to contend with.
Now if you are asking about an entirely theoretical scenario where no other country becomes involved, I would say there is no country that could do this. The U.S. Navy is the most powerful Navy in the world. Sure China's army out numbers America's but they would have to fly or sail to America's shores and the Chinese Navy can't hang with ours. This would mean severe losses before their Army Could even get to the mainland. Sure Canada could just charge across the border and take the NAvy out of the fight but the Canadian Army is not nearly large enough to contend with the American Military machine.
Basically what your asking isn't possible unless the U.S. is dealt a serious blow to morale and troops before any normal assault begins.

No country has the capabilities to over-run our country, especially if all available weapons would be in use. The key would be our air force and naval strength compared to other individual countries. The only country that has as many nuclear warheads as we do is Russia. We have 11,500 each after the SALT treaties were signed. China recently blew up an old satelite with a missile. Their capabilities for waging a two or three-pronged war is getting more impressive. They also have a standing army of about 196 million, if necessary. At this point in time, I don't think, still, that they would attempt to invade us because we would nuke them into submission if we really had to.

The United States has never lost a conventional war on the battlefield. (Washington lost Vietnam, the soldiers would have won, the Tet Offensive was a disaster for the NVA and Viet Cong)
The United States would be impossible to hold. The whole reason for the 2nd Amendment is individual self defense.
The only way to defeat us would be to Nuke us. Which would mean you would be annihilated too.
And I am just taking into account the spirit of the American Person... not technology, which we have an advantage at too.

LMAO...good luck. Occupying the US mainland will never happen for the same reason that Hitler went around Switzerland during WWII: an armed populous. Sure, they could take liberal cesspools like New York and California, which would actually be a good thing. Fighting those of us who love the US door to door would be suicidal.

None of these answers have even mentioned the Muslims .
There are Muslims in every country , including the US and they have a goal of world domination , also they are not impatient , they are willing to wait and dig away for generations, 9/11 shocked the US and America doesnt know what an internal war is like, not for a couple of hundred years anyway .

The only country that could beat the US in allout war is Russia assuming most of their nukes arent duds by now or sold off on the black market but thats jsut in a nuclear conflict,no country has the technology or assortment of weapons that the US has,no ones even close to us

No countries can "BEAT" U.S. totally. Due to the fact that it would be a big "showdown" and continuous exchange retaliation which would lead to major destructions to both nations. Both countries would lose. sounds dumb, but everything starts from stone age again. No point in that.

China, Russia, North Korea, and only because of pressure from Nuclear Warfare. Besides that, Its pretty much impossible unless an Alliance against US was strung up.
