TA-50 is short for CTA 50-900. CTA stands for Common Table of Allowances. CTA 50-900 is the Army publication that deals with Clothing and Individual Equipment. Don't worry, I was in the Army for two years and no one I asked ever had a clue. It wasn't until I went to PLDC that I learned.

If you look near the bottom of the page, it says that "TA50" is field gear.

After doing a search through a search engine, it seems to substantiate this, since "TA-50" brings up several military supply websites, featuring field gear.

According to this site, the TA-50 field gear kit is comprised of a canteen, pistol belt, and some various other gear.

The above site is a supply store, so an Army-supplied TA-50 kit may yield additional items. Hope this helps.
