You boyfriend has a condition known as Xeropthalmia or dyness of eyes. His lacrimal apparatus or the one that is responsible for secretion of tears and other lubricants is not functioning properly. It will lead eventually to corneal abrasion and blurring of vision. He could use Tears Naturale eye drops and seek an Ophthalmologist consult, OK.
