Any pastel hue without any "busy" prints are said to help peaceful activities. Pastel blue is especially calming. Stay away from yellow, however, as it is said to promote crying and raise blood pressure in some people. The readings on this subject is very subjective and contradictory in some cases so it would be wise to just go with what feels right or search for more info on color meanings on the web. Also, the ages of the children will have an effect because infants need visual stimulation.

blue and green are considered to have a calmin effect on you, but pastels hues of almost all colour can pass of in children rooms, children have very short attention span and get bored easily, so try to make the rooms as interesting as possible.
also keep in mind the sex of your child/children, girls like pink, mauve naturally, and boys have an inclination towards blue..
if both the kids i.e. boy n girl are staying in the same room, then you can demarkate their territories by different colours if you want...
best of luck...
