Hey! I've been on wellbutrin for awhile and love it. I also have a really high sex drive. My b/f wants to be a doctor so he's constantly looking up stuff on drugs, diseases, etc and said something about wellbutrin being connected to my high sex drive. Has anyone else had this side effect from wellbutrin?

A lack of sexual interest and decreased sex drive and increased appetite and weight gain can be symptoms of depression. If your depression is causing this then the Wellbutrin may improve it. Since you're on it try to stop smoking. Wellbutrin is the same drug as Zyban (just different brand names) which is specifically given to smokers to help them quit. It GREATLY reduces the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. If it doesn't help there are a variety of other types of antidepressants that may work.

Yup! Best side effect I've ever had from medication! The best part though is that it works on the addiction centre of your brain, and since I started taking it, I only smoke 3 cigarettes a day, I've given up junk food (no cravings) and I feel great. I'm doing so good on it. I only smoke after meals. That's down from a pack a day.
If you have to be on meds, this one is fantastic.

I haven't had that side effect from it, but a psychiatrist told me that there was thought of marketing it for that awhile back. (It is currently marketed as Zyban, as well to stop smoking)

Additionally, it is prescribed with other SSRI's often to combat the negative side effect of low sex drive associated with antidepressants like Paxil, Prozac, etc.

So, enjoy..

I haven't heard of it increasing it, but it doesn't affect is as much as other antidepressants.

But, everyone's body is different. There's no telling how your's might react to a certain drug.
