I' m a black woman that live in that lives in the heart of dixie:) Why is it more acceptable for black guys to date white women than it is for black women to date white men.It seem to me that black men get attitudes when it's the other way around.

Quite simply some black men are highly hypocritical.

A good number of them are dating unattractive white women will turn ugly at black woman dating a white man.

Why? Cuz associating with The Man is seen as being a sell out. Black men and black women alike take delight in calling sistas who date and fall in love with white men sell outs. There is the huuuuge misconception that a black woman and white man can't have anything in common. But a black man and white woman can have plenty in common cuz they are being held down by The Man. In order to believe that you'd have to believe that White men act like X and Black women act like Y which is not necessarily true at all.

Some black men view it as a game. Since white women can be seen as prizes a brotha is doing good if he gets a white woman no matter how unattractive society at large views her. But if a black woman gets a black man, it's like she's won the game b/c white men would be higher on the totem pole.

It's also in history. White men are seen as oppressors while white women are seen as victims of white men. People forget that back in the day white women were smiling right next to white men as Tyrones were being burned and hanging from a tree, extorted black men for sex, and imagined infractions by black men which never occurred ultimately led to their doom. But nobody wants to talk about that.

Also, black women are supposed to wait at home lonely while black men date Asian, white women, or any other woman on earth besides black women. We are supposed to be the 'backbone of the community' so dating out of the race for black women is the ultimate betrayal to the race.

The idea that one gender should hold up an entire race makes me wanna PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE!

I live in the south and lately I have been seeing more and more white men dating black women. I see them out in public especially at the malls. However, I don't think that it means that it's more accepted in America because of this trend. I once befriended a white man who liked dating black women. I would pick him up from work sometimes. Once a group of black guys started pointing and making stupid faces from their car and into ours. The guy was so angry I told him to ignore them. When the guys realized he was angry they said "Hey I'm not mad at you bro". But this is something that he had to deal with often just for dating black women here in the south. Once I dropped him off at work and some black guys who knew his previous black girlfriend became angry and said. "Look he got another one" it led to a fight. To answer your question I think that black men have been through so much in this country and through all of their struggles they could always depend on the black woman. They can depend on us to hold it down even when they weren't so they feel sort of betrayed when we date outside of our race. Even if they do it they don't feel that we should.

That has always puzzled me too. Because personally, I have a preference for black women.
I think a major reason for the double-standard is the male ego. And black women seem to get dumped on a lot too

Interracial dating and marriage between black men and white women is a good thing, and a sign of America's progression toward racial tolerance.

But black men can't turn around and condemn black women who date white men. And black men can't knock black women or whine about being pressured, because they need to take responsibility and not play the blame game.

I wish there were more black women / white men relationships and marriages. But things are changing, and I see more and more of it every day.

Ultimately black and white men need to wake up and really start looking at black women, because they are missing out on really special women.
And I think that black men have hangups of their own that they need to address.

I agree ms Honee. I have dated white men in the past and I feel that I have gotten more dirty looks and even rude comments from black men than from others; even from black men who also date outside of their race. My current boyfriend (of 5 years) is Latin and there is this one black guy in particular who is extremely rude to him. He was nice before he found out he was with a black woman so we think that is why he has become so rude. But the thing is, this guy has a white girlfriend. There has been black men with white gfs openly flirt with me after finding out I date outside of my race. These are the same men who would otherwise never take a black woman. I find it amusing. I think it is the same old double standard that men have. They can do it but we can't. When I was 19 this black male coworker of mine said its different for a man because men will be men but for a woman to do it is not okay. To me it is akin to the double standard with infidelity whereas some men feel its understandable for a man to have affairs but not for a woman to. I also think it has to do with the attractiveness of the black woman in question. It is no secret that white men tend to date attractive or successful black women. I think that is why some black men have a problem because they feel that a white man took one of the good ones. But in defense of black men not all of them are like that. It is just a minority of those who are annoyingly resentful.

Men usually have the power in a culture and they, the powerful are not only attracted to woman of all kinds generally speaking, but they have the money and the control to attract young woman. It has always been that way, but someday we humans will get our @@@@ together and people will be free and responsible in their relationships.
Good luck, but be careful!

it doesn't matter if you black or white , what really matters is that you love or like each other ....

the thing that never seized to amaze me is that " i never hear or read about racism except in USA & Europe " ,, why is that ?

there are a lot of successful marriages between couples from different races ,, what's the problem then ?

Go a Head & May Love , Happyiess , Joy and Success be with you ..

I think it has to do with the possessiveness of a gender towards the opposite sex of the same race. I live in Minnesota and I observe a lot more BW/WM relationships than the other way around, and myself as well as my blk girlfriends are members of such couples or date pairs. But of course there is always going to be people who disaproove of such unions. You have just got to kiss your partner to show them how happy you are of your choice. Works for me all the time and that action tells them off:-)
