when I have a fever or my allergies are acting up a cold compress always relieves them. Try putting some ice in a ziploc bag and wrap it in a towel, then apply to your eyelids. Cucumbers as well as chilled chamomile tea bags also have a calming and soothing effect on my eyes. Make sure you are laying down and relaxing when you try these things. They will provide temporary relief, but if it lasts longer than a couple of days, see an eye doctor.

If you wear contacts, take them out! You need to see a doctor to rule out an eye infection. It could also be alergies, or a cold. Please, if you wear contacts, take them out. Because of an eye infection caused by contacts I have a dent in my eye from bacteria eating my eye away and cannot wear lenses for atleast a year...

My eyes were burning all last week and then I realized that I was using a really strong facewash, so I washed my face differently and it stoped. Perhaps that is what is happening to you.
