I had a friend in high school who was the oldest of 12 kids. Her parents were Finnish-American, and their house was always full of life and fun. They wanted and loved having 12 kids!

On the other hand, I had another friend in college, the 3rd youngest out of 12, and she described her family life as similar to being part of a big company. She felt she missed out on a lot of individual attention.

My hubbies grandmother has 16 living children. I thought I had a big family of siblings. I have 7+myself. My mom doesn't wish they had less, but I don't know about my hubbies grandmother. Our family is very very close and keep in contact with each other and have huge get togethers. I'm pregnant but do not think I could have 8 let alone 16. Right at the moment I have a total of 18 nieces and nephews and I myself have a baby on the way. I think I want 2 no more than 3-4 depending on how things go. Anymore than that for me would make me crazy.

17 weeks pregnant

My grandmother came from a family of 12 - everyone got along just fine - lived through the depression and everything.
My son's teacher was the second youngest (?) of 9 and I guess he loved having a large family.
One of my best friends has 7 children (ages 5-17). They are wonderful kids. She homeschools like I did until recently. They are the most polite and respectful children I know (besides my own of course).
My husband is youngest of 6 - dysfunctional family that is though - hehe.

My husbands grandmother is 1 of 11. They are all very close still. the oldest is 68 and the youngest is 39.
My neighbor's growing up had 7. The bad thing is they lived in a 3 bedroom mobile home. I don't know how they did it. Now 3 of them live in another state. The oldest is 32 and the youngest is 20.

My mom had 13 brothers and sisters. The youngest died shortly after birth so that leaves 13 in total. My grandmother, who is still living LOVES having so many kids and she is still so excited when they all come to the house at the same time. Whats more is that ALL of them have kids so I have about 40 1st cousins on my mother's side... my grandma has that many grandchildren, about 15 great grandchildren and even one great-great grandchildren. No one asked this, but my great grandmother is still living so we have 6 generations alive. Isn't that crazy?

I went to school with siblings from a family of 12 children. The mother wished she had less but they were devout Catholics so birth control was a "no no" She died in her early 50s, doctors said her body just gave out...I can understand that...12 live births and 15 pregnancies? Anybody's body would give out.

My aunt had 10 children. Believe it or not, they all got along amazingly well, and still do. Their father left shortly after the youngest was born, and they managed to stay together, survive, and do very well; most of them have at least gone to SOME college, and a couple have gotten degrees.
