My mom claims we were "under attack" by demons. that I was being tormented by them during a part in my life when a lot of crazy stuff was happening to me. Is that really possible? It was indeed somewhat the "lowest" point in my life, and there was this awful presence in our home.....I was acting totally insane and I couldn't explain why I was going so crazy. All that put aside....what's the whole deal with being tormented by demons???

The church I went to claimed everything negative was caused by demons. Smoking, sarcastic remarks, inappropriate laughter: all caused by demons. They 'drove demons' out of me numerous times. I look back on it all now and shake my head. I was a kid! I smoked because other kids smoked. I was sarcastic because kids are smartasses. I laughed inappropriately because that's what a lot of kids do, especially when they grow up in repressive homes.

I think all the focus on demons in fundie churches is one way of never having to take responsibility for actions, thoughts or speech. One never has to say, "I'm sorry" if one believes it was a demon making one so nasty. It's also a lot easier (for some) to think that their child is possessed by a demon rather than simply gets antsy/nasty/hormonal at times.

Since I left the church I have grown to know one thing that I believe to be universally true: sometimes, things just suck. Sometimes your dog dies. Sometimes your mom is mean for no reason. Sometimes the person you love won't return your phone calls. Sometimes it snows and your car crashes into a tree. All kinds of things happen because: things happen. I no longer believe that a car accident is 'God telling me something' or that every bad thing that happens is because I am being attacked by demons. That is paranoid. It is more difficult, but far more adult, to realize that, every once in a while, whether we like it or not, unpleasant things happen.

I do believe there is evil in the world. You don't have to go very far to see it. I don't think this evil is caused by a huge megaplex of demons and devils that are wickedly trying to frustrate or tempt us away from God. I think evil happens when people act on their most selfish, or their most self-righteous impulses.

Umm...you are protected by our Lord Jesus Christ but only to a point. No, you cannot be "possessed" but Satan and his demons can put thoughts into your head and make them seem like your own. The cool thing is that not Satan nor any of his demons or anything else evil can read our minds. This works well when we want to pray to God for strength. But, yeah: Satan can and will (especially since you are a Christian...you are now a threat to him!!!!) try to steer you wrong and he is very very good at it. Just remember to put on the armor of God as it says in Ephesians 6:10 through 6:17 to "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes" (Eph 6:10 NIV). It is a powerful passage in the Great Bible. We are to put on the "Belt of Truth," & "Breastplate of Righteousness," also our "feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace," we are to "take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one," "take the helmet of salvation," and our most powerful weapon, "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." That will help. And I hope I helped and I shall pray for you as I have been blessed with the Spiritual Gift of Intercessory Prayer. God be with you!

I'm assuming your household is some form of a Christian religion....

Some religions or beliefs include thoughts that there is a "demon" for everything evil. ex: the love of money could be a demon, lust, etc..

I personally believe that things such as love of money, lust, lies..etc are just acts of human nature.

I see it possible that people can be possessed by demons, but for you.. that is a personal belief of whether or not you believe in heaven, hell, demons, angels, etc.

I dont know what this "lowest" part of your life was but I think it would be wise to look to your beliefs, your religion, if you attend a church.. consult a pastor or something if you think you could have been possessed by demons. Demons or temporary insanity?

You would know more than your mom.

It is called "oppression" - they come to torment your mind and spirit. But as you mentioned they cannot cross the blood line of Christ that covers a born again Christian. But they can make your life miserable until you learn to take authority over them by the Word through the power of the Holy Spirit. The first step is recognizing the source of the problem - demonic oppression. The second step is to do a personal inventory - have I given them permission to be here (in my life) by opening a door that shouldn't have been opened (playing around with the occult etc, or perhaps something as seemingly innocent as certain movies, or walking in disobedience to the known will of God). The third step is to renounce and close all those "doors" that give an avenue for satan to attack you. The fourth step is to spiritually renew your blood covering in Christ through prayer and the Word and then the last step is to take authority of the demon spirit and command it to leave in the name of Jesus. Anointing yourself and your house (with oil) after-wards with prayer "seals" the authority you've just used by recommitting everything into God's hand and inviting His Presence to reside in fullness in you and your surroundings. It works and satan must leave.

It called possesion or indwelling. The person possessed does not know they are possessed. They are there to keep you from serving the Lord and keep your eyes focused on your circumstances. They find rest inside of the human heart and seek rest just like we do. It is very likely that you had this happen to you. I would need more symptoms to verify though. Usually, those under the influence never remember what happened to them or what they said or did. Someone else has to tell them after the episode(s) is over.

i think of you're able to hate the respond extra advantageous than believing that there are supernatural entities on your place. What you're rather experiencing is gentle hallucinations, probable prompted with the aid of tiredness or fatigue; you additionally could have thoughts of stress on a similar time. i understand it rather is a monotonous and disappointing answer yet there at the instant are no demons or ghosts in touch.

No, a demon can't possess you. But they can oppress you. Which means, they try to control you, but that can't fully control you. The enemy is stronger that what people think. But God is stronger. Just pray even when you don't feel like praying. And began to fast. These things come out with much prayer and fasting. Ask people to pray for your deliverance. And I will all pray.

oppression. Yes, it happens a lot. Did you play occult games or perform occult practices? Are you a Christian? If so theirs hope. Prayer, worship, singing to the Lord. Invite christian people over to the house for these. Denounce anything to do with the occult. Lift Christ up and let his Holy Angels take over. Jesus must be calling you. Listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were no demons. It sounds like you had a mental break. Often when we are suffering from a mental disorder we do things completely out of our character.

Don't let your mother scare you. She sounds unbalanced.
