Nothing comes from nothing, I’ve heard it said, religious people quote the bible to them.
I don’t believe we do!
Other then those fanatics that thinks their going to change the world. For if one knows of an atheist it would be a waist of time. For we know they are self made, everything is of them. Religious people don’t need to prove to anyone, anything about faith. But I have seen many times that the atheist asks the questions. And it seems to me that if one can ask, one can be saved.
Food for thought! (Luke 9:26 in NAB) “Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.”
It’s sad to know they don’t have any place to go after life.

Freebird, I got you worried! We can’t get to heaven just on good works. And I do love my enemies I prayer for them always. I could go on and on with scriptures too. Because I believe example James 2:14-18 or
James 2:26, For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. Nor is man saved by works alone.
So you just keep on pointing out better then me, for God has mighty works for you, you just can’t see it. If you have your eyes in the Word that much. You don’t know what you are! I’ll tell you, your LOST!

Pasdebere, come on! Homosexuality doesn’t have to be experience or become reality to know that it’s a sickness and nothing else. There is no way to justify that one, but to place in with abusers. God made man and women out of love, for love, to love and that’s in the bible too. Thou we are to pray with love for those who are being mislead. And as you refer to a book. It's the one and only book that is alive and speaks the truth.

Yeah! It's like those people in Yahoo Answers "Celebrities" section!

I don't think any of them are celebrities!

And the music section too! I haven't seen grammy winners answer questions there!

Honey? The POINT is that this section is ABOUT religion and spirituality. Do people have to think just like you before they ask questions about those topics?

This has been asked so many times and it is now very 'old hat'.
Let me start by asking you whether you would want a simple one-sided debate here, where religious freaks support each other with blessings, scripture quotes and pointless prayer suggestions?
Or would you rather discuss the issues in an adult and mature manner?
The other idea to consider is that one doesn't actually have to have cancer to be interested in researching it. By the same token, one doesn't have to believe in the myths of religion to be interested in the subject AND in discussing it.
It really is not too difficult to apply logic and reason to the faith system in any supernatural entity and to finally decide that it is all nonsense. I know that it is a good idea and wouldn't it be wonderful if it was true BUT it ain't true and anyone who believes so is living in a fantasy world.
I don't ask questions much here and I have no desire at all to be saved when I do. A misconception. Misguided.
I am not sad that there is no place to go once I die, especially as neither have you and I am not alone. We die, we rot. End of story. Use THIS life as well as you can as it IS your only opportunity. Do not rely on there being a follow-up. Doesn't exist. What is so difficult in accepting the grim reality of life?
Further advice - try examining your use of the English language. Do not WASTE the time that you have and check up on the correct useage of 'they're' and 'their'. Poor useage only indicates poor education? Poor education results in belief in fairy stories.

Atheism IS the only logical choice.

Are you pulling my leg? The most fascinating thing I've encountered when debating with those of a religious disposition is how riddled with contradiction their arguements usually tend to be. Not only did you outrightly deny the fact that some religous people quote scriptures left, right and centre - you did it in the very next breath...right after your denial. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I found it interesting that you chose a quote with the word "shame" in it. Hmmm. Almost like you have, I don't know, some sort of agenda? That doesn't sound too holy to me!

Because they are lost. They are even in the wrong area here - in the Religious and Spirituality with no religion, no belief system. They haven't filled the void in their lives and are not content, so they try to disprove others because they are truly bothered by their own disbeliefs! Oh, they will have a place to go after this life even if they don't believe this either. They will end up in the Lake of Eternal Fire forever. They need to spend their time reading The Truth, in God's Word, not what they want to think. Even satan believes and trembles. Even he knows where he's going to go and doesn't want us to read about his doom in Revelation, so deceives people into not reading God's word. Enough said.

Who says atheists don't have a place to go after life. The bible you claim is infallible says we do, if we conform to a simple moral standard. After all, Jesus promised reward to ANY who: "But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and [to] the evil." (Luke 6:35, in case you don't know). And I conform to that requirement, so by biblical decree, I'm in. Belief in a diety is not required, just conformance to that moral rule.

So you're wrong. If an atheist has morals that match that instruction, they do have a place to go after life. Jesus says so. He outlines an undisputable path to heaven based on moral acts, and not a single requirement for belief anywhere in the verse.

But I'm sure it will be in your "self-denial" fashion to claim that this is wrong, since it doesn't fit your ill-conceived notions of who you think will deserve heaven despite the teachings of your own bible. Or perhaps you'll just quote an opposing bible verse declaring that as precadent, and conveniently ignoring those statements from Jesus that don't match your personal stance (Won't Jesus be mad at that?).

I'm an atheist. Bet I know the bible better than you do. In addition to your ignorance of bible verse that I just corrected for you, I bet I can point out (better than you) where the bible is sexist, racist, contradictory, misinterpreted, and/or an advocation for violence.

You ask a valid question, but I don't think you will get any resolution.

Not all non-believers who post to this Forum are hate-mongers. And some self-professed Christians seem to have left the love reservation when judging some of their responses. I will confine my remarks below only to those that act badly.

For these individuals, it is interesting and sad to see how some persons will behave when hiding behind the anonymity of the computer. As an "old guy" I have occasionally acted irresponsibly in my youth, so I can relate, but only up to a point. It is also readily apparent these persons would be ashamed if they knew their parents, husband, wife, children, etc., learned of what they write herein. They do their loved ones a disservice and dishonor them with such behavior.

The questions and answers one sees in this forum all too often represent a triumph of flippancy over rigor. These flippant persons that post obnoxious, vitriolic items obviously have not formally studied the matters being asked for several years. Rather they enjoy mockery and proving that they really have no value to add to the answer and too much wasted time on their hands.

The scriptures speak of such persons:

2Ti 3:1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
2Ti 3:2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,
2Ti 3:4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
2Ti 3:5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

For these reasons "...God gave them up to dishonorable passions." (Rom 1:26)

The best solution I can recommend for you is to ignore their vapid questions or comments. It is very easy to scan past them and focus your eyes on the substantive and cogent items. If you spend enough time in this Forum the persons prone to ill manners become known quickly, enabling the ignoring of their wasted efforts even easier.

Likewise, the questions are sometimes poorly formed or are laden with underlying bias that tells the reader that no cogent and rigorous answer will satisfy the asker.

In fairness, I am frequently embarrassed by other Christians' answers. I feel a sense of dismay over the obvious lack of deeper learning that is evident by many of the responses. Most seem to want to just fire off whatever pops into their heads, streams of consciousness, etc., with no evidence of reasoned arguments and synthesis of the issues. Some of the questions are often shallow or just asked for point building or something.

Unfortunately, many very good Christians have not spent enough time trying to learn and understand the theologies of the faith. Many also lack formal training in biblical hermeneutics, so they may misunderstand the full meanings of the texts they frequently quote.

I am not advocating that everyone get degrees in theology, only that they spend some time studying materials outside the scriptures so that their faith will be solidly grounded.

The biblical doctrines tell us that all non-believers have their ability to properly reason clouded by the evil that entered the world at the Fall of mankind. Hence, non-believer or whomever, I believe that those that are not among God's elect will be in an ever-present state of tension between what God has revealed to mankind and their desire to seek their own counsel.

Want to know why non-believers hang around this forum so much? See See Erika R's excellent and cogently written answer at: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvfsfC_oV9b71eDhBO9.t8jsy6IX?qid=20070214222750AABkZwl&show=7#profile-info-wudNsFgZaa

Just keep asking questions in an objective manner and you will sometimes get useful responses. I try to answer questions so structured with reasoned theological, philsophical, and logical responses.

Because religion, unchecked, is the source of all evil. If we don;t correct your ignorance, you will try to make it a law we have to follow.

Stay out of law and government, and we'll leave you alone so fast your head spins.

But alas, you DID quote the Bible....

That being said, you imply that atheists know nothing of the Bible. That isn't true. Most of them DO know the Bible and some of them are atheists because of it.

Joyce...

YAHWEH works wonders....the fact they are here, asking, listening, reading shows he is working. They won't accept that, they think they are here on their own free will.

But ask yourself this question......do you go some place that you do not like? so if they don't like religion nor God, why would they come here. Unless there was an underlying question in their head....." what if I am wrong and they are right....what if? ".

Like He says....don't try to convert them...that is his job....we just need to spread his word.

I don't get it. i'm a humble man, if I come face to face with "God" or Jesus, I'll admit I was wrong and he'll have no choice to forgive me, cause that's what he does.

In the meantime, I'm living in reality.
