If you have access to cable TV, I highly suggest watching HGTV (Home and Garden Television). You can get all sorts of ideas on how to decorate, and a lot of the shows focus on low-cost decorations. They are fun and interesting to watch too.

I never hire an interior deccorator. I watch all the deccorating shows on TV and go from there. The basics of good design are not hard to learn. A lot of it is common sense and most is a matter of you own tastes. Check your HGTV listings for design shows and watch them until you get an idea of what appeals to you. Then go for it.

There are interior decorators who offer consultation services, so take advantage of this so that you can get more ideas on what you can do with your free space. The rates of these consultations will differ accordingly.
