You must be wearing either nylon and/or polyester. As you rub against your clothes you build up a static charge which is then released as soon as you go to touch something conductive i.e. metal. I get it when I'm in the car as I have a nylon seat cover on my seat. It's worse when I wear a polyester coat. Then I shut the car door with my elbow.
Although irrelevent I'll tell you a funny tale.
I was going down one of these tunnel slides in a playpit with my 3 y.o. daughter on my lap. I was wearing polyester trousers. As my daughter went to touch the side of the slide she'd built up so much charge from me that a shock arked from an inch away. Poor kid...

Do you always wear a jumper? or do you have some sort of woolen coat? If so then everytime you put these on you are creating static electricity. anything you touch, even another human being you will get a small snap of electricity. I wouldn't worry to much I don't think your gonna be the next FLASH.

This si electrostatic electricity that passes from your body to an earthing place.
It occurs most of the time in the Winter time when one is wearing wollen clothings and these have been rubbing with one's body or other materials.
If this occurs in the dark one can actually see the tiny spark.
Nothing to worry about as it is not a problem with your system.
Good Luck. .

static electricity is generated by your movements towards the car, specially if you are carrying a briefcase with a plastic handle. this charges your body, and when you come in contact with metal the charge is passed to the metal (car)

You are probably experiencing a change in your body, an evolutionary process where you acquire electrical charges. You could have a mission in life, change the world and be one of HEROES.

This is static, i get this alot. It can hurt a bit.
think it depends what clothes and shoes you wear. synthetics or wool types can make it bad. Have you recently got new shoes, or wear something new if its recently got worse?
When i go up and down escalators it seems to be worse.
