boyfriends hair is midway down his neck and about halfway over his ears at the sides, what is the best way to remove volume from his hair to make it look less bushy, however he does not want to lose any length at the top and back of his head, but is willing to trim the hair on his neck until his hair grows to one length at present his hair is about 3 " long all over apart from the hair above his ears, any suggestions on how to tidy it up whist he grows it out

I am not talking about a mullet but hair all one length eventually, it has taken him about six months to grow it from a buzzcut to the length it is at present

Oh, he's in the awkward phase of growing out hair. It's a little different for me because I have some curls from my Hawaiian blood. My hair is 8 inches right now, and has only looked "good" for a month or so. Before that it was kind of awkward for a couple months.

They have thinning scissors that can take out some of the bulk, but not the length. The scissors look like a broken comb.
