Even if you kill the fleas on you cat they are in your home. Eggs can live and be dormant for up to 18 months then hatch and reinfest. However, it is not a hopeless situation. Alot of systemic flea treatments (the ones you drop onto their skin between the shoulders) are only preventative. That means you have to rid the animal as well as the environment before using the drops then the medicine wil prevent reinfestation. However Revolution (a once-a-month systemic treatment) kills fleas, their eggs, ear mites, worms and other parasites it doesn't just prevent them. My advice would be to give your cat a flea bath, treat it with Revolution, and bomb your house to be rid of as many fleas as possible. Then wash your cat's bedding and vaccuum, vaccum, vaccuum. I am a huge believer in Revolution because I've tried other systemic flea treatments and nothing has produced results like it has. It's not exactly cost effective but it will save alot of money in the long run because of it's effectiveness. I swear by it! So to answer your question about temperature fleas are like cocroaches, temp has nothing to do with their survival.

Flea Collar has always worked best for my cat. Fleas are like roaches they live everywhere and can't seemed to get rid of them but you can control them. Also, set some of those bombs that you set off in the house , you and cat go for a while. But don't forget they lay eggs, so a week later you need to bombed again. That should get them under control. They have shots at the vet that last a while, expensive, also try the liquid it is very small quantity and it goes down the back and last 30 days.
If you don't do the house your cat will stay infested. Good Luck to you and your cat.

My sister worked for a vet and would have her cat dipped there. While the cat was at the vet she would let off one of those flea fogger things in every room. Nothing seemed to work. Then she moved to Bakersfield in the summer (100+ and dry as hell). The fleas were gone in a couple of days. Totally gone. I'm not saying that you should move to Bakersfield, wouldn't wish that on anyone, but other than that, I'm not sure what you can do.

As Gene L said, you'll have to eliminate fleas from your cat and your house/apartment.
Spray everything the cat sits on, walks on, lays on, even the walls up to three feet off the floor.
Zodiac is a good product. The non-aerosol spray is easy to control and direct. Spray under sofas, chairs, tables, your bed, etc. Everywhere. Don't forget the curtains.
You'll have to do it again in about two weeks as the flea's chrysalis stage will have hatched out by then and you'll get a smaller re-infestation. That's the one stage of flea life that sprays don't kill well, if at all.
Have your cat shampooed at a groomer or vet,... if you don't want to do it yourself. Make sure the shampoo is made for cats, not a dog shampoo. Cats can't handle full strength dog shampoos.

Fleas actually die at a very little temperature range slightly cold as in 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 150 degrees Fahrenheit. But that is no help because the eggs are much harder to kill. I suggest flea powders that are ceramic based this makes the little buggers suffocate. Then vacuum up there bodies and eggs.

I don't believe that they really die but they are at their worst in the summer. You need to take your cat to a veternarian as soon as you can. A flea can drink up to 6 times their weight every day and they will give your cat parasites. If there is a lot of fleas, they will also infest your carpets and etc.

Here's the deal...
If your cat has fleas...your house has fleas too.
I've been there, done that and here's what I did to get rid of them...
take my advice, or not.
1) buy a cat Flea Shampoo (Pet Shop)
2) buy a spray bottle or can of Zodiac Household spray (Pet Shop)
http://www.petplanet.co.uk/shop_dev/assets/new_product_images/interpet/zodiac_maxi_household.jpg
3) have a good vacuum cleaner ready.
*Spray your carpets, cat's bedding, your bedding, and everywhere else you can with the Zodiac
*Give your cat a flea bath
*About two hours after the Zodiac spray, vacuum up all your carpets and rugs to pick up dead fleas and eggs.
*check the instructions on the Zodiac, but if I remember you spray again in about two weeks.
Fleas all gone!
oh and btw...forget about using a Flea Collar...they don't work!
Interesting Tidbits:
>Female fleas start producing eggs within 24 to 48 hours after taking their first blood meal and can lay up to 40 to 50 eggs per day.
>In just 30 days, 10 female fleas can produce under ideal conditions 90,000 eggs.
>A flea can jump as high as 13 inches.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

You're likely to kill the cat before you kill the fleas if you rely on temperature to do it. Use front line spot on treatment, it's great, or speak to your vet.

well i took in a stray kitty and i didn't know it but it had them pesky little fleas. my dad bought some flea spray for them and it worked wonderful. after that i learned that if your cat trusts u enough to give it a bath u can use dawn dish soap to kill all those lil black critters. as to the temp, i have no clue but i thought this info might help. u just gotta be patient.
