There's a large Catholic Cathedral there. Is that indicative of the overall city, or is it city more Protestant? Has anything changed since the early 1930's?

The blogbaba has been to Cologne, and saw that carved crucifix that had that tortured figure of Christ on it outside the place. I mean this thing is a magnificent work of art about 12 feet high, but so scary it defies words. You can actually feel the pain of Crucifixion while your looking at it. It was emotionally upsetting to look at it, the intensity was almost terrorfying. Anyone who see's that crucifix is gonna walk away with a new found fear of who ever carved it. It was 25 years ago and it still scares me to think of it.

I think you'll find atheism is the dominant non-religion in the larger cities of North-West Europe.
