Is he dreaming? Or is it something do with his nervous system? I couldnt stand to see something happen to this puppy after my poor dog...please tell me hes just dreaming.

Puppies do twitch when they sleep, and it is completely normal. It is partially from the dreaming and partially from their muscles developing. Your puppy will grow out of it.

It is very normal for dogs, especially puppies, to dream and kind of twitch like that. If it is nervous system related, I believe it would affect him when he is awake also. I'm sure he is fine, I've never heard of a dog dieing of a seizure so unless the puppy is from the same line as your old dog, the odds are slim that you would be so unlucky again twice in a row.

Puppies twitch in their sleep, just human babies do..It is just an undeveloped nervous system..Nothing to worry about.

Rarely do seizure disorders begin until after a dog is two years of age..(another reason to not allow dogs to breed until two)

no dont you worry unless there are other signs of what she is doing. when you say twitcing though, do you mean her little feet start to twitch, her nose... her paws? My pups are adorable to watch when they sleep. My 5 month old actually just started yelping in his sleep and it broke my heart, but then I realized, dogs only dream about what they know, so he's probably dreaming about chasing his 4 month old sis around. It's unlikely it is something deeper than that, but if you notice anything else, just ask your vet. Enjoy the cuteness!

If it was my dog I would ask the vet, but it is probably fine. Just curious what kind of dog it is. I have 3 chihuahuas and often tiny breeds of dogs have small nervous systems, so shaking and twitching is natural. good luck, I would not worry too much.

It's perfectly normal for dogs to twitch while they sleep - he's probably dreaming of chasing something!

He's probably just dreaming. I have four dogs and they all do it. I have one that barks in his sleep, and a female that runs and runs and runs. I used to have a female that would wag her tail in her sleep, like she was happy to see someone!

I wouldn't be concerned unless you notice the puppy doing this while awake. :)

I believe this is just the puppy having a dream, actually my kitten is doing that as we speak, but if you are really worried, consult a vet.
