I don't live in Galveston and I've never been there, can someone tell me what the beach is like, I'm thinking of having my wedding there. We originally wanted to get married in Hawaii but were not financially ready for that and our family couldn't really go since its so expensive, we live in tx so I figured lets go to Galveston to get married, but are the waters/beaches like the california beaches all brown or are they an ok alternative to prisitne waters? Help!!!

Galveston beaches are mostly nasty - lots of seaweed and trash etc. The water is not clear, but a ugly brown color usually. HOWEVER there are a few places that are OK. Take a trip down there if you can, and look around. You might also check with a wedding planner from that area and see where other people have beach weddings.....personally I'd go over to Florida somewhere where the sand is white and the water clear and blue.

Well, I live in the general area of G-town and I can tell you that it is okay at certain times of the year. Mardi Gras is over so you dont have to worry about the crowds..right now. Watch out for spring break and Beach party coming in a month or two..because it will make the beach so crowded and gross. Galveston beaches are divided up by like, little sections ie, crystal beach, steward beach etc..The cleanliness of the water and beach varies by diffrent beach. Take a trip down there before you plan the wedding and you decide if that where you want to get married, girl. Good luck. congrats.

I would suggest South Padre Island not near Corpus down south a bit where its more resort like. I don't know what Galveston is like but, the pics my mom has of around there it was very blah looking definitely not a comparison for Hawaii. I use to live in Kingsville and I would suggest going to San Antonio and getting married on the riverwalk you can get married on the little island in the middle and have your guests line the sides. The Waverly hill area is also nice.

THE sea coast IS THE ornament! something man made will look incredibly out of place. If what you're incredibly attempting to do is create environment, try choosing a undeniable sea coast (Hawai'i Jamaica, Azores, Sicily, Greece....etc.) and a undeniable time of day and season. Spring Sunrises are lots of the final on seashores. Mid summer season sunsets are breathtaking on the sea coast. previous due summer season and early fall is staggering for that staggering blue ocean scene in the time of the day. Use what God provides! (great metaphor for marriage!)
