The following features are absent in Dinosaurs and present only in birds

1) Body covered with feathers.

2) Presence of beak and no teeth.

3) Forelimbs are completely modified in to wings and no claws on the those limbs.

4) Warm blooded.

So they are placed in class AVES of vertebrate animals

And Dinosaurs and their relatives are in class REPTILIA of vertebrate animals.

This is , I think sufficient for you.

do you mean the characteristics that birds have but dinos don't? like the 180 degree backwards rotated toe?
