2 PART QUESTION

1 why is it when you have a cold (excessive coughing) you dont really cough when your outside, but when you go into a house building or get into a car the chances of having a cough attack increase by like 90%? then you feel embaressed when you start coughing because for some reason its always quiet.

2 how do you make your cough more productive, so you actually cough of mucas instead of nothing, and prevent yourself from pulling a muscle in your ribs?

thankyou

well u cough more indoors because ur in an enclosed area and there really isnt any flow of air...
i too at times find coughing in quiet places to be quite akward...

just stick to drinking fluids to prevent plain dry coughs.
wen u hav a cold, an internal battle is going on inside of u.
the cells that r helping u destroy the virus is also destroying healthy cells as well.
damaged cells cause that urge to cough.
coughing is just a way that ur body relieves itself from the debrea of dead cells.

u shouldnt be trying to prevent coughs cuz it slows up how fast ur body wins the battle against the viruses...

1 Some people cough more indoors because of the heating. Central heating has a tendency to dry the air and dry air dries out the mucous linings of the nose and throat. The ducts for forced hot air heat are often dusty which adds to the problem. Some furnaces have humidifiers, but sometimes these fail.

2 Cough medicine with the initials DM on the end will act as an expectorant...it causes you to have a productive cought. Robatussin DM is the brand name, but every large drug store chain has a generic form that usually ends in DM.

Good luck on your cough...I'm finally getting over mine after 7 weeks.

1. Indoor air pollutants and dust particles etc that are the major causes to your coughing sickness. Especially when you are inside a cooling environment. Try not sleeping in an air-conditioning room.

2. If what you have been treating with yourself in western medicine and doesn't feel any better, you can opt for TCM. Certainly there is no guarantee it'll solve 100% of your coughing, but surely it will provide your body with better healthcares with absolutely no side-effect at all!

Cough expectorants may help. Seems to me it's the sudden
change of temperature that does it. I dunno why. Use vix vapo
on yur chest at night..it help to clear yur lungs. If your not
coughing up anything, and u have no ratteling..from mucus, then
you need a cough suppressent. Over the counter meds should
do the trick. I also use those Menthol coughdrops,....they work.

your condition sounds serious. have your respiratory tract checked because something else besides the weather/climate/allergens that is causing your coughing. i would suggest that you drink a lot of warm water and avoid chocolates. Good luck!

can't answer the first part. The second part, drink lots of fluids. When you are well hydrated, the extra fluid helps liquify mucus making it come up better and easier. Good luck!
