Go have your hair straightened at the salon's or use a flat Iron. You can also buy the Perm solution and instead of using curlers use a comb and straighten it down then follow the instructions. If you go to the beauty shops they have hair straighteners but it costs a pretty penny.

If you can find one who knows what a shag hairstyle is -

tell the stylist to cut layers for a shag haircut and describe the straight flat look that you want.

I guess that you want it straighter on the sides and volume on top?

shag haircuts have more layers -

a shag hairstyle is not necessarily straight hair.

You'd be surprised what a good hair cut can do for your hair, even if it's hard to believe it will behave the way you want it too. A good stylist can look at the texture and wave of your hair and give you a cut that will help it fall the way you want. They can also recommend products that work well with your type hair so you can get the look you want.
