I asked this question, years ago, to a doctor friend. I am glad I wasn't the only one curious about it. You probably shouldn't. But...
First off, I know your baby will not be born addicted to crack or be a fish baby nor waterhead. Marijuana does not cause brain damage. Though, it does slow the thought process and can also hinder prosperitey. Everone knows about the short term memory. Until the THC is expelled; all is restored over time. That was the answear I got from Dr. Kim. Masters of Asheville North Carolina.
Please bear with me, I have a theory: Some people do not feel a buzz their first time smoking bud, and some people do get a buzz the first time. I beleive I did not feel a buzz my first time because my mother did not ever smoke the diggity dank. Some people in my social circle say they felt a buzz their first time, as their mothers did smoke pot after conception. So, the only damage your baby would endure is the feel of a buzz when he or she smokes his or her first joint, bowl or pow wow. A cigarette habit is much more harmful than a marijuana habit to you and your unborn child as far chemical content. There are chemicals in both pot and tobacco that have not yet been identified because they don't excist anywhere eles. All that has been proven about marijuana is the lung damage is no different then that of a cigarette.
Compare it like this: Pregnant heroine addicts receive methadone during prgnancy and give birth to normal healthy babies. A person can overdose and die on methadone. No one has ever overdosed and died from marijuana. If methadone does not harm a newborn neither will a joint. Methadone gives a hell of a uphoria and hinders appetite.
Pot is good for morning sickness. It helped my wife through that. Wake and bake stopped it when the reefer took effect on her. Besides, it will make you hungary. That is good. Just don't gain too much weight. Your unborn child will relax more so than youself, under the influence, with the occasional jerk reflex. The same as youself after smoking the primo and sitting relaxed and stoned. I must warn you: If you are having your prenaddle care and the birth trough the health department or social services, they will drug test your baby whereas a private doctor normally does not unless there is suspision. Just don't smoke one on your way to your appointment.
By the way, my social circle consists of Lab Technicians, Realestate Brokers and Attournies. I am a Veternarian and we all smoke pot. A couple of us even grow it.

No a woman should not smoke pot or anything else for that matter. I hope that you or whomever this woman is wants a healthy baby. Kids are already expensive and I don't think anyone should abuse a child in that manner or any other manner. The child didn't ask to be born. he or she is a blessing and you should think of it that way. Smoking pot while pregnant can cause many problems and I'm quite sure that those problems could be eliminated if the mother would take care of herself while the baby is developing

Danielle is right, there are no found adverse affects. Smoking in general is unhealthy for mostly you. The baby COULD have some of the thc passed, however the placenta is an awesome filtering organ. While it's not recommended, it is similar to a glass of wine ON OCCASION. Everything in moderation.

Obviously, Not smoking pot or drinking during pregnancy has not helped our society in any way . . .smoke and drink, maybe it will help future generations.

Not to say yes she should....But there is actually no proven statistics stating that smoking pot has been a harmful cause. However smoking even just tobacco is not recommended.

No, because anything you put into your body that is harmful can affect the growth and development of a fetus. Even if nothing happens, are you willing to take that chance and have something wrong with the baby after it's born. Best to avoid it all together.

Both my mother and one of my sisters had miscarriages due to (respectively) my stepfather and my sister's boyfriend smoking weed around them. Marijuana has been proven in study after study to heighten the risk of miscarriage. It's not just some meaningless data to be passed among scientists. It really happens. Don't do it.

- Marijuana use has been linked to low birth weight and premature birth.
- Reduces oxygen to the baby.
- Marijuana use by the mother is associated with slow embryo growth and spontaneous abortion in the early stages of pregnancy.
- THC (the active component in marijuana) passes freely through the placenta, and THC can also be passed from mother to infant through breastfeeding.
- Symptoms such as excessive trembling and withdrawal-like irritability in newborns have also been associated with heavy marijuana use by the mother.

I'm going to say no. Probably shouldn't smoke anything as a general rule. Better to be safe than sorry.

NO NO NO Drugs! Your baby will have birth defects and will have many problems in his/her life. It's not fair to them when the mom's to be drink or do drugs during pregnancy. I have seen too many babies/kids whose mothers drank, did drugs while they were pregnant and it's very sad. The chemicals fry their brain and they can have brain damage, ADD, and many other problems. The trouble doesn't go away. It stays with them for life!
