I'm a college freshman dude and I gave a small Valentine's Day card to the girl of my interest. We didn't know each other too well, but I gave it to her anyway because I wanted to be the first one to give her something on the day. I was just worried about some other dude snatching her up. I'm opening her up, but I'm wondering if what I did on Valentine's Day was something I shouldn't have done. I've always been told that I should play hard to get, but I made it clear to her that I have interest in her. Was it a big mistake? I'm so curious.

You did not make a mistake. Telling someone you are interested in them is never a mistake. If she likes you then great. If she prefers not to date you then great. You took a chance, and you told someone they are special. Both positives!!! You don't need to feel you made a mistake, or did something wrong as long as your heart is in the right place. BTW: Many times things that don't work out immediately, find a way of working out really great down the road. Just stay open and mature, one way or another things will go your way.

Don't play hard to get or she'll never know you like her. As to whether you made a mistake, you should be able to tell that yourself by her reaction. Was she happy to get the card, or weirded out? Have the two of you talked since then? If she didn't seem way weirded out, you should ask her to do something with you this weekend. If she is into you, she'll be wondering why you haven't called her yet--it's been a week!

Feel good about yourself. You handled it perfectly. You expressed and showed how you felt. I do not believe in playing with people's heads. You play hard to get, then eventually it becomes drama. Your in college now not grade school. Hey!! If by chance, she doesn't respond and show you the respect for being a man, it's her loss. And do not give up. I myself received a valentine card from someone I didn't expect. I did let them know how much I appreciated it. I swear there is not a girl that doesn't feel good about getting a card. You're on my top list

if it felt right when you did it don't regret it if she likes you too then look at it as you just told her how you feel and let her have a chance to get to know you and she if she feels the same way
