I was just reading about dalmatian urine today! It seems dals urine is quite unique, the acid is not processed normally and causes the stones.
google for "dalmatian urine" and read up... there are other treatments!
I was concerned because I was told not to feed liver or other organ meat to Dals, and to limit protein in adults. My boy is 8 months old and we want to prevent the stones, that seem to run in many dalmatian lines.

There isn't anything else you can really do to get rid of the kidney stones other than surgery. Although $3000 is a lot of money, many good vets will allow a payment plan. That is where your friend will pay x amount every week or two until the debt is paid off. If that vet doesn't allow payment plans, consult another vet. Like I said, many good vets will allow a payment plan for people who can't afford to pay large vet bills like that.
Please, get your friend to do this ASAP. I'm sure the dog is in a LOT of pain.

Hi I had the same problem with my male dog. I took him for the operation - there is 2 , 1- one is expensive because you have to put the dog on special diet 2 - one is better they make the dog like mine is the male to an female. No special diet the dog can eat normal again. Yes it is better to take your dog for the operation your dog is in a lot of pain, just imagine how you feel if you can't pee? that is how your dog feel. The operation was expensive but I have to say after the operation my dog kidney failure and that almost kill my dog. But I did pay for everything and believe me I am so happy my dog is very well and happy. I strongly think you must take your dog for the operation before it is to late. I will help if I can. If he's crying from soreness now, why might you like longer to take him to the vet? that's cruel. He could have stones, a UTI, a blockage, who's ordinary with of? Get him to the vet this afternoon and have him dealt with. do no longer go away him in soreness all weekend! as nicely, if he's basically urinating a sprint vast basically how a lot rigidity do you think of his bladder can take? What if he has reflux and the urine backs up into his kidneys? they could fail.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

Hi Jenn_w081!
Kidney stones are mineral deposits that form in a dog's kidneys. They irritate the bladder lining and can even block a dog's urinary tract.
Kidney stones can be very painful and lead to infection. Canine Tripsy it is natural product that fights infection and reduces the discomfort of canine kidney stones. Canine Tripsy helps your dog release urine and acts as an anti-inflammatory, reducing pain. Please consult your vet for treatment and fighting the symptoms of canine kidney disease.
If your dog is suffering from kidney disease, you should consider changing his diet right away: Increase his intake of liquids to help reduce mineral deposits.
Ensure your dog is not getting too much salt (sodium). Many commercial brands of dog food contain too much salt.
Very important is choose the most appropriate therapy for your dog. Surgical (prompt removal ) recommend if the patient is in kidney failure or is having severe clinical signs.
Also, most likely use Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is a relatively safe and effective way of treating nephroliths in dogs, but it can only be performed at certain referral institutions. In this procedure, the stones are crushed in the bladder with shock waves and then the fragments are flushed out.
PS: Most dogs who exhibit symptoms of stone-forming can be easily and successfully treated. Veterinary knowledge of canine urinary stones and their non-surgical treatment has expanded rapidly within recent years. Today, there are even two national veterinary centers specializing in urinary stones: the Minnesota Urolith Center at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Minnesota, and the Urinary Stone Analysis Laboratory at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of California at Davis Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Urinary_Stone_Forming_In_Dalmatians_And_Other_Dogs/

Even though this surgery costs lots of money it will be best for your dog. Get a loan or borrow some money because the prolonged time may leave some long term effects.
